McCarran Airport - How Confusing Is it? How Soon to Arrive

We are flying Allegiant - how soon should we get there - we are flying back Sunday, Sept 30 and the flight departs at 6AM (ouch). From what I see on their site - 2 1/2 hours - is that about accurate? We have only flown once - from O%26#39;Hare to Cancun and Cancun was relatively easy and O%26#39;Hare was chaos. How confusing is it? I have to carry all of our luggage, husband has a heriated disc and pinched nerves and we almost had to cancel it all, so I dont want to be walking around confused for too long! Thanks everyone!

here is a link to the TSA site on wait times. I have never waited in Vegas over 20 mins at security but you never know. I have found this link to be very accurate and helpful.

McCarran Airport - How Confusing Is it? How Soon to Arrive

Not confusing it all. Just follow the signs to BAGGAGE CLAIM. McCarran isn%26#39;t real quick - it%26#39;ll take about 30 minutes for the bags to arrive at the claim area. You can get a cab right outside of the area.

1 to 1 1/2 hours is generally plenty of time to arrive before your flight out.

......Just follow the signs to BAGGAGE CLAIM

Yeah - but it would be NICE if the signage told you that you had to take a TRAM to the BAGGAGE CLAIM area!!

We have never had to do that in any other airport so we were totally clueless since there are no signs (that we saw) to this effect anywhere!

What?? You don%26#39;t just go down a flight of stairs or something??

Can someone clarify this? We are coming in from Seattle and this will be our first flight into Vegas via an American city so domestic. (usually we fly straight from Edmonton, Alberta)

yes, follow signs to baggage claim - easy to do. the trams are also well marked. if for somw reason you miss them follow the crowd from your plane - everyone must take the tram. don%26#39;t worry about this - it%26#39;s easy to follow the people.

As long as you know you will be taking a tram to the baggage claim area, I think you will do fine.

IF, however, you stop to play a slot machine, like we did, and miss following the rest of the passengers from your plane, then you%26#39;d be out of the loop - like we were.

All the signage says is BAGGAGE CLAIM with arrows. No where did it say you needed to take a tram. I think that is a huge mistake on the airport%26#39;s part.

Once you get off of the plane follow the signs to baggage claim. You have to go down the escalator and catch the tram to baggage claim. No where else to go once you go down the escalator except to the tram. Hop on grab your luggage and go.

LOL..teabag..

Apparently there are other places you can go.....hehe slot machines....

gster74............you are right - well, at least I won $75 on that darn slot machine so it was worth it wondering where we were going to get our bags from - LOL.

You are not going to get lost in the airport. I have no sense of direction- not a poor one but none at all. Even I can%26#39;t get lost at McCarran! It is a very easy airport to navigate. Don%26#39;t worry about it.

I always get there 1 1/2 to 2 hours before my flight. There is plenty to do at the airport- including giving the VP machines one last chance to be my friend!
