I was on their website looking to see if my flight was going to arrive in terminal 1 or 2. Their airport maps are very primal. My flight is due to arrive in terminal 1 in ';D'; gates. I always fly continental, and
do not recall how far of a trek this will be to baggage claim. Am I seeing correctly that I will have to take a tram? We only had to do this one other time awhile back, and I remember the hassle of dragging luggage.
Also, I am aware of the new laws in Las Vegas, so when I saw the
following on McCarran website, it confused me!
Smoking:
McCarran International Airport is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.
Locations: Throughout the airport
Can anyone say, ';double talk?'; LOL
I just found this comical.
McCarran Airport
The ';D'; gates are serviced by the tram, yes. The ';D'; terminal has three separate concourses, all of which feed into the central core, from which you%26#39;ll take an escalator down one level to the tram station. It all depends on how far down one of those concourses your gate happens to be. From where the tram arrives in the main terminal, it%26#39;s not too far to walk to the escalator to baggage claim.
I%26#39;m not sure what they mean by ';designated areas only.'; It%26#39;s my understanding that smoking is banned indoors, period. They used to have the glass lounges, but no more. Maybe they mean curbside only now? It is a bit confusing, yes.
McCarran Airporthi sue
ive just returned from vegas and was told that it is a no smoking airport.
you cant smoke anywhere only outside
hope this helps

I also have used Continental and you do have to take the tram. I only bring a carry-on but the distance to the baggage claim from the tram was not that great.
I don%26#39;t know where you were looking on the maccarran site but this is what I found under smoking:
In compliance with new Nevada state law, smoking is now prohibited in all indoor areas at McCarran including restaurants, bars, and lounges. Smoking is permitted outdoors near ticketing and baggage claim
VP, Yes I also saw that, and I know that is indeed correct. That is why I found it peculiar when I saw the other statement. When searching their site, I clicked on smoking and that came up. I have no problem with the new laws.
Thank you everyone for answering regarding the terminal..I always like to have an idea before hand, so no surprises.
