Comprehensive List of Vegas Shows

Hi everyone - Instead of asking for show recommendations, I was wondering if there was a good site out that summarizes what shows are offered in Vegas. We%26#39;re going out there in October (a group of 6) and a summary site would be very helpful in finding a show that we all would like to see.

If no such site exists, then I%26#39;d be happy to get recommendations to add to my own list. We%26#39;re looking for an Vegas show that satisfied these criteria:

- Something we haven%26#39;t seen before (O, Le Reve, Zumanity, Jubilee, Mystere)

- Something you can%26#39;t also see on Broadway (Producers, Phantom)

- Not particuarly kids-friendly

- Not a comedy/magic show

I know...I know. Is there anything left? I%26#39;m aware of Ka and Love. What else is out there? That%26#39;s where this hypothetical site would come in very handy... =)

Thanks!

Comprehensive List of Vegas Shows

Thanks! That%26#39;s a world record for the quickest reply with the exact information I needed. Thanks again!

I also wanted to add for the OP that sometimes the Vegas show is better than the broadway version because of the $$ casinos have for the stage and it%26#39;s a permanent show, etc. If there is a show that you love in particular it would be worth checking out in Vegas if you can%26#39;t find other options. I saw Phantom in Vegas and it was fantastic.

Did anyone attend M&G 9/11

I just want to know if anyone attend? I was there and there were maybe 4 people there and they were all alone

Did anyone attend M%26amp;G 9/11

Bump

Did anyone attend M%26amp;G 9/11

I passed by twice - however, I only saw couples sitting at separate tables, so I didn%26#39;t stop in. Not to mention the fact that my head felt 2x its size, nose running, and generally feeling lousy. Jeeshhh

firsttimer, and I were there, and we also saw Nev2007, and her hubby. Didn%26#39;t see anyone else, and no one else saw us. We even had the guitar player announce who we were, and where we were, hoping to see if there were others in the romm....

The announcement must have been before, or after you arrived.

Yes I arrive around 4:15 maybe i missed all of you

We even had the guitar player announce who we were,

What?! Did he totally turn up the amplifier before he announced it? LOL....just kidding....I love the loud guitar guy.....

CO...you do NOT love the loud guitar guy...lol

I just love the fact that he stopprd trying to compete half way thru, our M%26amp;G on the 6th....and just stopped playing.

I know....I wish he would have done that with ours. Next time I know we have to be louder and rowdier to get him to be quiet. =)

We were way to worn out from the day at the pool... sorry i missed everyone!

I was with my friends getting wasted away at Margaritaville, but then you already knew that was where I%26#39;d be!

What???????????????

Yes, outside your room will be a hooker, a maid, a butler, a cop, room service, a cat, and a clown.

Very crowded, so open your door quick, don%26#39;t make eye contact, and run to the elevators.

Sorry if you are serious, if so let us know

yes i am serious.

I read about hookers somewhere so i put it in the question.

everything isnt free at the wynn i though the gym cost.

Musicman, I love your style.

That%26#39;s what I%26#39;m talk%26#39;n bout--creativity.

Okay, I belive that you are serious, so here is my serious answers.

Is there a certain amount of money you have to come in with to bet in the Wynn casino?

I assume you are talking for table minimums. Probably, the lowest Black Jack minimum will be $25

Slots, you can find anything from 1 cent to $$$$$$$$

What other games are there at the casino that is as easy to learn as roulette?

Slots, you don%26#39;t need to learn anything, just insert money and push the play button.

Most card games, you need to learn

Is there anything elese to do fun at the wynn other then gamble?

Drink, go to clubs, play golf, swim

';Yes, outside your room will be a hooker, a maid, a butler, a cop, room service, a cat, and a clown.

Very crowded, so open your door quick, don%26#39;t make eye contact, and run to the elevators.';

ROTFLMAO!!!

Well Hitch, it looks like we%26#39;ve got some cometition!! lol

Pick up dirty toilet paper.

As for ';hookers';. In las Vegas it is not legal, how ever you can find them in most hotels (they find you). Hotels usually let them do that to please their ';rich male guests';

All you have to do is hang around bars and even casino area, be alone and look rich

(they will milk you as much as they can, depending on how desperate you are and how experience she is, LOL

Wait a minute....I didn%26#39;t get the cat OR the clown.....crud, do you think it%26#39;s too late to complain?!

On a serious note....undersecter.....Parasol Down is a really fun patio bar that overlooks the Lake Of Dreams. Fun place to have a drink, but they%26#39;re prcey drinks (~$12+ depending on what you have).

You could also see Spamalot or Le Reve......

Terminals will be dependent on what airline you%26#39;re flying with.

It%26#39;s impossible to apply somebody else%26#39;s experiences of connecting at DFW to what yours will be like. Too many intangibles involved on any given day.

HI, we are already thinking of booking cheap offer flights for end Jan (31st to 7th Feb) , but what is the situation with rooms. The flights have to be booked by 25th sept, and dont want to commit if the rooms are going to be very expensive at that time.

Does anyone know if there is a similar situation to March Madness or could it be a goer?

We havent even done our November trip yet! thank goodness my husband loves Vegas as much as me!!

Best strip club for a Couple

What would be the best strip club to go to with the Hubby?

Best strip club for a Couple

This has been asked numerous times and if you search for ';strip club couples'; you%26#39;ll get a lot of threads.

We like OG, Club Paradise, Scores and Spearmint Rhino. Not all the clubs are full nudity and some are a bit dingier than others.

Best strip club for a Couple

I felt more comfortable at Olympic Garden with my husband, but Sapphire is much, much nicer inside.

My personal preference is Spearmint Rhino. Are you looking for both male and female dancers or only female dancers?

Only female.....probably...we both agrre that women look better naked.....

hard to argue with that. I think Spearmint Rhino offers the best strip club experience in that regard. Best of luck.

Leaving For Vegas in a few hrs.

Well im off to Vegas, in just a few hours, gonna spend 4 nights there, any suggestions on things to do? we already have some pretty good ideas... but looking for maybe some last minute suggestions... going with two friends of mine... plan to attend UFC on Wednesday Night.

Leaving For Vegas in a few hrs.

    Have one for me...

    gamble excessively?

this question is so broad so i%26#39;ll just list some of my favorites

i always love stopping by margaritaville for an obscenely large margarita

if youre into the whole adventure thing id also consider skydiving

Use that 24 hr. monorail pass and go everywhere you possibly can!! Have fun, drink, gamble, and most importantly write a TR when you get back!! =)

    Roll Call Oct 3-10

I will be staying primarily at Harrahs. Anyone going to be in town

    prior to M %26amp; G Oct 12th?

    Roll Call Oct 3-10

    Vegas Sue,

I will be in Vegas from Oct 5-13. Staying at Paris 5th-9th then NY NY. Are you primarily there for gambling?

    Roll Call Oct 3-10

Gambling is definately the number one reason! DH and I normally

wing the entire trip. Upon return, he then complains that we never

saw a show. Now, I decided to do the right thing, and booked 3 shows. I also have plans for us (subject to change) for dinner.

Hard to believe, we haven%26#39;t left yet, and now he is complaining that we won%26#39;t have enough time to gamble! LMAO

The Producers, Mama Mia!, and Mystere are lined up. I also have plans for Casa Di Amore for dinner, and one evening to head over

to the VooDoo lounge to see the sunset. I am hoping to do this on the 8th, as that is our 30th anniversary.

Will head down to the Stratosphere on Friday to check in to king spa room for 3 nights. Not sure if we will use the room, but got this comp in the mail after my plans were made. Couldn%26#39;t resist, as they are giving us $100.00 free slot play, $50.00 food and bev credit, 2 free tix to american superstars and bite (we will give show tix away) and 15 entries into some kind of drawing. We were going to stop by Strat anyway, to see friends we have made over the years.

Gambling has been kind to us there. So will check-in, get offers, play and wing it from there. Have to make the rounds downtown as well and touch base with some down there during the trip. Having the room at this end of the strip will work out ';just in case';.

So sorry...I just realized I am writing a book here...I tend to do that without thinking pounding on the keys.

Aside from the shows booked, and Friday DH and I will be floating around! We would love to meet up with you or anyone else during this time period!

Anyone out there interested let me know!

Will be at MGM Oct. 8th-Oct 10th.

I spoke to DH, and he informs me he doesn%26#39;t want me to make any

more plans! However, (hehe) as we depart on the 10th, I can say with certainty that we will be at Harrah%26#39;s on Tuesday, October 9th.

I would like to arrange a ';look who I bumped into'; in place of a formal M %26amp; G. (LOL). I will have many coupons left over from ACG,

as well as those I%26#39;ve picked up along the way. I sure would like to give them to TA members. I am hoping the show tix from Strat will be good for more than one day, as I plan to give those away as well.

If anyone is interested, you can respond here or pm me. I would love to set something casual up!

    I will be there the 4th -8th.

I am solo from the morning of the 4th until DW arrives about 730p on the 5th. I will be primarily playing poker at various room til she arrives. Then Son and his wife arrive Saturday and I have to meet a dear friend that is the best fighter pilot in the USAF sometime Saturday or Sunday. before we leave Monday am.

I%26#39;ll be downtown at the 4 Queens Oct. 7-11th. This will be a trip with the girls. Can%26#39;t wait!

    Have a great trip.

    Another Sue

I will be with 8 friends at the MGM for my very first Vegas trip, Oct 7-10. I am So Psyched. Everyone here has just been feeding my exitement with their trip reports. Thank you all. Can%26#39;t wait.

I%26#39;ll be at Harrah%26#39;s from 10/6 to 10/10. First time in Vegas too! I%26#39;m so excited. I can%26#39;t wait to go.

Thinking about doing a trip to LV the 3rd to the 9th of Oct. Fingers are poised to click all the right buttons, just haven%26#39;t broken it to the husband or to my bank account yet. Might be there, might not.

hobo, I think you are past the point of no return. If you have it ready and the fingers poised, you will be able to sell it to DH.

Vegas via DV and Yosemite to San Fran

Only 3 days until our trip and we%26#39;re almost there with our arrangements...

Please can anyone advise where we should stay for 1 or 2 nights on our trip from Vegas to San Fran. We plan to drive through Death Valley to Yosemite but have no idea which route to take (yes we%26#39;re last minute people)

We are hoping to drive from Vegas to Yosemite in a day (max) and stay overnight in Yosemite (need hotel ideas on route) then go onto San Fran. Although if this is going to be too far then we are happy to forego one night in San Fran to make the most of the trip!

All feedback/suggestions welcome and I plan to keep a journal and feedback on oour return. Thanks for everyones help so far!!!!

Vegas via DV and Yosemite to San Fran

There are some palces to stay in Oakhurst, at the southern edge of Yosemite. I would try to spend the night there and then go see the giant trees in the morning before proceeding into Yosemite. That way you can spend the entire day at Yosemite. Immediately after leaving Yosemite toward S.F., you%26#39;ll hit a road that has quite a few hairpin turnas and steep grades. Try to get past there before nightfall. After that section, it%26#39;s pretty smooth driving.

Well...DH says that he and his boss are ';working on it';. That means that I%26#39;m going ahead with my plans. If nothing else, maybe DH can take calls while in Vegas...my suggestion. He won%26#39;t be able to do that all the time, but, it may get him there with me. Also, one of the other guys in the office might be able to handle his job for a few days.

  • how old

what is the age you have to be to stay in vegas

    how old

anyone can ';stay'; as a guest at most properties.

you didn%26#39;t ask, but might want to know that 21 is the legal drinking and gambling age.

    how old

You can stay in Vegas at any age. However you need to be at least 21 to book at room at most hotels and you need to be 21 to drink or gamble.

21 to play or even stand next to a machine or table in the casino. 21 to rent a room.

Any age when with a legal adult such as a parent or guardian and not engaging in casino related activities or drinking. Then again that isn%26#39;t too much fun if you are in the almost legal age range. Security does check id cards if they have a question about a players age.

Hope that helps to answer your question.

At some casinos it can be a real pain in the butt if you%26#39;re under 21. You can stay at the hotel but you aren%26#39;t legally allowed to even stand still in the casino (which you MUST walk through to get to the hotel elevators). Some casinos will jump all over you asking for ID as soon as you stop to tie your shoes and others would probably let you sit down and gamble, it all depends.

21 and they check ID at the City Limits.

The Riviera allows you to reserve a room if you are 18. Tropicana- 19.

LV Hilton allows 18 and up to rent rooms as well.

    Mr. Papageorgio?

    ';Some casinos will jump all over you asking for ID as soon as you stop to tie your shoes and others would probably let you sit down and gamble, it all depends.';

I don%26#39;t know of any casino in Las Vegas that would jeopardize their gaming license by ';probably letting you sit down and gamble...'; if you%26#39;re not legal. Does it happen, due to fake ID or sometimes lax security? Sure. But it%26#39;s not like there are places around town that let 18 year-olds gamble on a regular basis.

    Hi

They are very strict on age in the casino%26#39;s etc but anywhere else is fine.

    Clive

Gee, I am learning about room rental.

I had always thought that it was 21 only. I am noticing the specific properties where you can rent would not be the choice of most adult travelers with the exception of the Hilton which is a convention fav and off the strip.

I wonder if it is easier for an under 21 to rent off strip non casino hotel rooms......

2 Chicks first time in Vegas

Hey just wondering if anyone can offer suggestions of nightlife must do%26#39;s. We are staying at the MGM and it is the first time we have been to Vegas. We are there for 4nights in October. Thanks

2 Chicks first time in Vegas

    Pure at Caesars

    TAO at the Venetian

    Tryst at the Wynn

    Studio 54 at MGM

    That should get you started....

2 Chicks first time in Vegas

Do these places have dress codes?

Go to their web sites for dress codes.

Usually you can%26#39;t wear jeans t-shirts or flip-flops.

Vegas IS nightlife. The clubs mentioned above are the more high end and there is a dress code of sorts. LOL if you are cute and female, you will likely not have to worry much past the basic stuff. Me? I have to pretend to be a delivery guy...

So much like home then, So I should be packing some nicer clothes if we plan on getting into these places. I don%26#39;t know it sounds like there is so much else to do that it would matter if we didn%26#39;t get in.

May I suggest you take a look at this website:

    http://www.lasvegas4newbies.com/contents.html

Las Vegas for Newbies - it has lots of information thay might be useful to you.

Forget the clubs unless You intend to HOOKUP.

Spend your time enjoying the Strip and all the places to visit.

Next time, plan the Club scene.

';2 Chicks'; - how nice of you to introduce yourself to the LV forum with such respectful reference.......lol

I thought it was a good reference.... Thanks for the web address will check it out. I am loving reading all the forums on here as it is making me more excited about arriving in Vegas.

    Hey SunshineGirl75,

I%26#39;m heading to Vegas with a friend in October too, when will you be there? We%26#39;re there from Oct 21-28. I can%26#39;t wait either, can%26#39;t wait to check out all the clubs. So there will be two Aussie chicks hitting vegas.. :-) Can%26#39;t wait to party there.

A guy i know from over in texas also said that Tangerine at Treasure Island is good (can%26#39;t remember if it%26#39;s there or elsewhere, but they apparently have 3 litre margaritas) and he also said Voodoo Lounge at Rio All Suite Casino was good and another guy i know went a couple years back and said Ghost was good too. A few have outdoor bars as well which apparently have good views of the strip. I%26#39;ll probably be checking out most of them...haha.

These boots were mad for walking...

    Hi there,

I know that you need a pair of comfy shoes for Vegas.

Ladies, what shoes would you recommend without actually wearing your slippers for extreme comfort? Was looking for something that combines comfort and casual, something other than trainers.

    Look forward to your suggestions...

These boots were mad for walking...

    Great title Daytripster,

I wore sneakers the first few days then my I had to go buy a pair of Crocs. Everybody was cutting them down so bad on the forum and I didn%26#39;t know what they were. Nobody would dispute there comfort only that ugly look.

    Dot

These boots were mad for walking...

wear appropriate shoes for your event - aren%26#39;t all comfortable? don%26#39;t you need comfortable shoes everywhere? IF you have comfortable shoes in your wardrobe now wear them - you don;t need new shoes.

sure, i%26#39;m not wearing heels to walk 10 miles, and I%26#39;m not wearing my birkenstocks to a formal dinner.

for stylish walking shoes my fav brands are: Helle comfort, donald pliner, mephisto. you might also try clarks. These are just a few of the hundreds of good, well made shoes available.

Buy what fits you and works for you - surely you know what shoes you like and are comfortable to you

bridgefan1 I was only askin for suggestions not a formal dressing down...

Be careful you dont fall off that high horse...

Really, how mad are those boots? ( j/k, : - %26gt; ) My feet get mad when I wear shoes for fashion and they were never meant for long periods of standing.

I stand for 2 and 3 hours at a time when doing educational presentations and find that the same types of shoes work well in LV that work for these work related events.

Good shoes with support, well fitted, with some cushion. I dont%26#39;t want to bore you with details but here is a brief breakdown from my experience, and I know we are all different.

Walking the strip good sneakers or a good sandal. I like soft spots, naturalizers, rockports, some of the burkies. It doesn%26#39;t have to be over the top expensive to be comfortable. Some of my most expensive shoes are only comfortable for a period of a couple of hours wear if walking a good deal.

A lower heel but not a flat in the same kind of comfort shoe for evening or a sexy higher heel and a comfort shoe in my bag to switch out after a dress up dinner or event.

Thanks Benezett and Shrinkgirl, sound advice indeed... My %26#39;comfy%26#39; casual shoes are done for and need replacing. Will check out some of your suggestions. xx

    Hi

We always go for good fitting sandals eg Clarks with the air soft soles. Just stay away from high fashion for strip walking.

    Clive

Oh yes! Clarks are another good suggestion! I have three pair of Clarks and forgot about them. Please do add Clarks to the list and I have a very comfy pair of Borne too.

I%26#39;d recommend, whatever the most comfy shoes are you currently have in your closet....those...are what I%26#39;d wear the days you%26#39;ll be wandering thru the different hotels on the strip. For me, my favorite Nike%26#39;s.

However, if you%26#39;re looking to buy, the perfect shoe, and then bring them to Vegas for a test drive...I just have to give a shout out to our best known local secret

    www.zappos.com

Shop till you drop! : )

Maybe this would be a chance to compare comfort shoes. I worked 9 hours last night and got 2 (7 minute) breaks because 1000%26#39;s of tourists were in town and we are short handed.

When I was in Vegas , I was just trying to save my legs and feet so I could still walk when I got home.

I bought the Crocs because they are recommended by Orthopedists.

THey are extremely light and have an arch (which I need) How about you Daytripster? However, they are hard to get a correct size in. I would prefer something with a better fit (like 1/2 sizes).

I%26#39;m sure others would appreciate some details on shoes as walking is a big issue for so many of us.

I have to go do another 9 hours soon but am looking forward to all posts .

    Dot

Quite agree Benezett - its saving the feet as opposed to the legs that is my main priority.

Cushioned soles are a god send - come on people let us know your top tips in the footwear department....

From Las Vegas, you will head East on either Flamingo, or Tropicana to the 93/95 heading south. Some people will tell you to take the 215, but if there%26#39;s an accident, now your stuck in traffic, and I%26#39;ve found it easier to use one of the major thru-ways I mentioned.

When you head South, be carefull you do not follow 95, or you will end up in Laughlin. Stay on the 93, and that will take you first to Boulder City, and then to the Dam. after the Dam, you will be in Arizona, and you will stay on 93 untill you hit 40East. Follow 40 East to Williams Arizona, and then Travel North on 164 to Grand Canyon National Park.

Plan on about a 5 hour drive.

Day trip to Grand Canyon - renting a car/SUV

Is this 5 hour drive round-trip, or one way? We%26#39;re considering trying this the next time we are in Vegas.

Maggie, I would also suggest you go to th N. rim. It%26#39;s about a 5 hour drive and the scenery is beautiful. There are three basic viewing area and on two of them you have to travel thru winding roads to reach them.. Elavation is about 9,000 so the thin air might affect you a bit (my wife got a little light-headed). Temperature is cooler and a light jacket might br needed early. Take plenty of film or memory cards. There are several towns along the way that you can pick up brakfast/snacks etc. The speed limit on th highway up to Mesquite is 75. Once you get into Utah, you%26#39;ll have to turn off heading to Hurricane. Be careful with the speed limit from then on. The road from that point on becomes 2 lanes, one each way.

You can probably do the three big areas in about four hours( not counting any extensive hiking. It is truly a great side trip.

    holrk...

Both North and South Rims are 5 hours each way.

    Thanks so much!

Any suggestions on where to spend the night after seeing the Grand Canyon? Either somewhere close to the GC or somewhere on the way back to LV, thanks

Most people I%26#39;ve talked to have a hard time finding accomodations close to the canyon, as the tour companys tend to book them up in advance, and what they don%26#39;t take are swept up by family vacationers.

It really depends on the time of year. (It%26#39;s harder in the summer).

    You could also check Flagstaff.

    ';Any suggestions on where to spend the night after seeing the Grand Canyon? Either somewhere close to the GC or somewhere on the way back to LV, thanks';

Depends on which rim you visit and what time of year you%26#39;re planning on going. The North Rim is remote, and closes in early to mid October. There is only the one lodge there in the park. The South Rim has more lodging options inside the park, which you can view at:

    http://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/

Many of the ';in park'; lodges book up well in advance, so plan accordingly. Outisde the park is Tusiyan, Arizona. Kind of a ';wide spot in the road'; town but there are some lodging options there. I%26#39;ve stayed at the Best Western and it was a decent property. Otherwise, Williams, Arizona and Flagstaff both have plenty of options but are some distance from the canyon.

The hotels in the Grand Canyon do fill up months ahead of time. But I have always had luck getting a cancelation the week before. Keep trying, you may have luck. If not Tusyan, right outside the park has many hotel. I have stayed at The Grand and the Quality Inn, both are fine.

Thanks for the information, bumping to get more

    best time to go

next june./july we might go vegas 4 two weeks,if so 2 questions

1.what will the weather be like?

2.people have said just do vegas for 1 week,is there enough etc for 2 weeks.

    best time to go

    July = Pizza Oven.

I met many players from the UK who were there for a week but none for two. If you do go for two weeks, take a trip to Los Angeles.

    best time to go

    June July, expect Hot weather.

Average for Jube is 100 and for July is 105

Perfect for pool, not too perfect for walking up and down the strip.

As for how long, it depends to what you like to do and your budget.

Tell us about yourself also (age and what you like to do)

I just spent 10 days in Vegas, it was too long a time to be there. It%26#39;s an exhausting town even when you are doing other things than gambling, shows, etc. I think 5-7 days is more than enough. That would leave you time to explore another US city or area as well. How about going to San Francisco? Awesome city!

    like some shops,excursions,

day we usually do some stuff go places etc.

i dont know if i can affird vegas and LA,

    ages

    49.57 16

You know what we say in the UK Phil, phew what a scorcher! it will be hot.

Vegas can be enough in 1 week, but if you make it a kind of beach holiday, ie stay somewhere with an awesome pool complex (Mandalay, Caesars etc) you could stretch 2 weeks easily. Its trying to make the $ go 2 weeks when you want to go full on!!!

There is so much to do, but in some ways Vegas is like an assault on your senses (all of them good by the way) but with a lot of researching you could easily fill 2 weeks. However I would be tempted to combine it with something else.

Once you have been to Vegas, its only a matter of time before you go back. My first time, I booked to get back there within a week of getting home!

Have a wonderful time why not fly to san fransisco and drive down the coast, catch a plane to Vegas (you dont really need a car there) I may be way out of line here on the geography and time elements but its a great part of the States to bimble about in!!

    enjoy

yep well id love to do a twin centre las vegas and LA love it but dont know if i can afford it plus we allways fly from manchester as you can go almost anywhere from here but that would mean going down to london for la.

Okay, with a 16 year old, I%26#39;ll say 2 weeks in vegas will be too long.

He or she can spend some time at the pool, but days are too long when you can%26#39;t drink, and gamble and go anywhere.

Maybe a week in LA and visitin Disney land, Universal Studios and .... will be a better move

iv just been florida and done universal is it simlar,

The temperature frequently is 105+. The record was 116! It will be very very hot!

Two weeks is a long time to spend in Vegas. If must do that I would recommend you rent a car for at least part of the time and visit off strip attactions. Drive to the Grand Canyon and spend the night there. One day go to Hoover Dam/Lake Mead/Valley of Fire.

    http://parks.nv.gov/vf.htm

Another day you can drive to Red Rock Canyon:

    www.desertusa.com/redrock

Then spend some time at Mt. Charleston.

You are going to have to break up those two weeks and get off the strip.

If it%26#39;s your first time there is plenty to do for 2 weeks. Make sure you get a hotel with a decent pool complex that you will be happy spending some time around.

Good ones for Pools are are Mandalay Bay, Flamingo, MGM.

The most important thing to do is plan. Book a couple of shows, a trip to the grand canyon, hoover dam, at least one nice dinner.

Trust me if you have ever been on a 2 week beach holiday in Europe etc. you will be overwhelmed with things to do in Vegas.

Don%26#39;t book a package. Use the following link to find good deals but they won%26#39;t appear until nearer the time.

    http://www.fatwallet.com/t/63/704925/

P.S. Weather will be very hot - don%26#39;t be put off I%26#39;ve been in Crete with temps of 42oC.

  • Goldstar events/shows advice

Hi has anyone experience of the goldstar events discount tickets for shows, are they reliable for the views etc?

Also has anyone seen a 2 for 1 offer on KA. We saw the show last time in Vegas, and my husband wants to see it again it was so good but if I can get 2 for 1 all the better? I thought I saw one, but now cant find it and maybe it was my imagination. if anyone knows.

We want to see Phantom and a magic show too, any recommendations for a great magic show, we have seen Lance Burton, and also Penn %26amp; Teller, is the chap with Pamela Anderson any good? or is David Copperfield better.

So annoyed LOVE which is what I REALLY wanted to see is dark for 2 weeks when we come, didnt even think to check, just assumed so that will teach me, still gives me an excuse to book early next year for Bette and Love!

Any other cirque worth catching - Le Reve?

I have been umming and ahhing so any recommendations or warnings etc gratefully received.

    thanks

    Goldstar events/shows advice

Although it%26#39;s not an official Cirque show....Le Reve is fantastic!! I really liked it. It%26#39;s water based so has a lot of diving, swimming, etc. and the theater is really small and round so all seats are very close to the stage. I thought it was kind of dark and sensual, and just really good!

Sorry Love is dark during your stay....that%26#39;s a favorite of mine too! Have you seen Mystere? It%26#39;s probably at the top of my list!

Le Reve is currently being offered at a discount on Travelzoo.com - check it out. I haven%26#39;t seen it so I can%26#39;t comment.

I loved LOVE,bummer that it%26#39;s dark during your visit! :o(

Yes, Goldstar events is very reliable. I have not used them for Vegas shows yet, but use them all the time for Los Angeles. I have not had a bad experience. They will also respond to email within 24 hours if you have a question.

Damn the timing on this (a Wynn invite)

I received an invite from the Wynn for 2 free complimentary nights. I told H and he was even excited, telling me to check the dates, as we would try and get some last minute travel agent fares on Allegiant if the dates were something we could do.

Turns out, the dates are for a time when H is scheduled for Mohs surgery for skin cancer. BAH!

The good news is that I get these invitations periodically, so I%26#39;m hoping for another invite for mid October or mid November (I would be thankful at Thanksgiving in Vegas, hee! )

Damn the timing on this (a Wynn invite)

Can I ask, how often you get free room offers from Wynn, and how much you gamle in there to get those offers (or how many points)?

Damn the timing on this (a Wynn invite)

(Not the OP, but I thought I%26#39;d offer)

I get the offers occasionally. More often, I stay there at casino rate and end up getting a night or two comped before I leave.

    I gamble between $500-$1000 a day.

MusicMan - The offers come to me because I%26#39;m a part time travel agent. I often get offers from various hotels, resorts and casinos to stay at their properties to check them out, I just need to provide my own transportation there.

If I had to depend on my gambling for a free room, I%26#39;d probably never get one, as I am a very low roller. ;-)

The reason I asked is, that we joined the Red club (I think thats what its called) about 6 months ago, and my wife and I together, lost 6 or 7 hundred dollars in one night.

Since we were staying somewhere else, we did not play at Wynn again, but we never get any mail from them!!!!! and no emails also.

Is that normal, or I should check with them?

iowa, H%26#39;s health and wellbeing is far more important than any Vegas trip ever could be. That%26#39;s the way to think about this one.

As you said, you%26#39;ll get more invites in the future. Hope the surgery goes ok.

    Hey MM...

I have been to the Wynn one time with DW, to see Le Reve (comped thru work) and to play the 25.00 in free play they gave me. I put a 10.00 in, and played the 25 -1.00 at a time, and cashed out with 30.00.

They sent me an offer for 1 night @ 119.00 and 2 free Le Reve tickets...(worth about 110 apiece)

Not needing to ';stay'; in Vegas, and having just seen the show, I didn%26#39;t bother responding, but if the deal would have been for Spamalot, I would%26#39;ve grabbed it in a heartbeat.

    MusicMan...

Seems a bit strange....we joined Red Club a while back..and the first 2 visits (not staying) probably only dropped about $100 total in there (maybe even less for my sister)....and we all 3 (me, mom, and sister) got a deal we used in January for $119/nt and $75 Freeplay...and then in August we used another $135/nt and $75 Freeplay deal that we all got. I would think with the amount you spent you%26#39;d be seeing something....might be worth a call to casino marketing?

iowa, hope all goes well with DH%26#39;s Mohs. I had it in March, after 2 failed attempts at my dermo. They got it 1st shot so I was in at 8am and out by 10am. Any questions about it. feel free to pm me and I will answer based on my experience. It sounded worse than what it was.

MM- That does seem a bit odd. Have you made sure that they%26#39;ve got your mailing and email addresses correct? I would guess that they should have sent you some kind of invite, but then again, I%26#39;m not always sure what the casinos are thinking sometimes.

Blagger - My H%26#39;s health is the most important thing for sure. We were a little bummed at the fact that the dates didn%26#39;t work for us, but only because we had gone through something similar this past spring w/ the Wynn. Every time I got one of these invites, we already had a prior committment. With that said, I%26#39;m not so bummed about it because I know we%26#39;ll get another invite soon.

Shrek - Thanks for the offer, I just might take you up on it. I know that the Mohs isn%26#39;t supposed to be real intense, but still, its a surgery nonetheless and the big ';C'; word.

Thanks guys, I thought it is strange also, but since its Wynn, I wasn%26#39;t sure if they sent offers to Low rollers like me.

I will give them a call for sure

    Grand Canyon flights

    Hi all,

We%26#39;re thinking of booking a flight tour over the GC, but most people I%26#39;ve spoken to who have done this have said those little planes get thrown about quite a bit due to turbulence, and this causes many folk to be sick and spoils the experience somewhat.

    Are they really that bad?

    Many thanks, as always.

    Grand Canyon flights

    bump

    Anyone?

    Grand Canyon flights

We flew over the Grand Canyon on a small plane in November and there.was less turbulance than in a Large Jet. I%26#39;m not sure if we were just lucky, but we are going to do it again this November.Don.t be put off by others opinions .Try if for yourself,it is awesome, you won%26#39;t be disappointed.

We took a Papillon helicopter tour about a year ago. They don%26#39;t fly that high and there was absolutely no turbulence at all. I have a major fear of heights but this was the only way to fit a Grand Canyon visit into out trip, so I decided to go for it. Stayed up all night worrying about it the night before, for absolutely no reason at all. I was so glad that we did it.

  • finding duvet covers
  • Shorts?

Stupid question but need to ask - is it OK for ladies to wear shorts and T%26#39; Shirts in the daytime??

    Shorts?

Absolutely ok. No strictly enforced dress codes virtually anywhere in Vegas day or night. Wear what you%26#39;re comfortable in.

    Shorts?

Thanks for the quick response, I can finish packing my case now we are leaving tomorrow - 1st timers and can%26#39;t wait!

Believe me you can wear whatever you want!

    Have a fantastic trip!

Have a great time boro! As a former expert on the forum used to say. All you need in Vegas is a wallet!

    I%26#39;m male, but had no problem getting into Emerils at the MGM wearing shorts and a polo shirt. (I had forgot to pack long pants) It stated dress atire was ';business casual';

Some of the fancier dining places will require better attire, and many of the clubs. Other than that you good!

A nice pair of 7 inch spike heels would round out the look.

Enjoy it, but remember to pack good flat shoes!

Don%26#39;t take leaflets from the people on the street either!!!!!

apart from the leaflets - anything else we should look out for?

Don%26#39;t try to walk anywhere but the strip, don%26#39;t go to the Holiday club promotions unless you are like me and can be strong!

Collect as many coupons and sign up for as many players clubs as possible, you get freebies that you can give away when you come back!

    ';Don%26#39;t try to walk anywhere but the strip';

What%26#39;s that all about? Are you referring to safety issues? I hope not. So many people incorrectly assume that it%26#39;s dangerous to go Downtown or off-Strip so please don%26#39;t post completely inaccurate generalisations like this.

what are and how do you sign up for %26#39;players club%26#39; (see we really are vegas virgins)

    The Luxor

I%26#39;m about to book the Luxor for December. How does everybody feel about the Luxor? And should I have any snow concerts for Vegas then?

    Mike:)

    The Luxor

My wife and I just got back a week ago from staying in a pyramid suite at the Luxor. The room seemed pretty run down and in need of repair. Their elevators were extremely slow and were constantly full and we had to wait for the next ones many times. I thought their casino layout was pretty bad also. I never could get my bearings to find my way around. I don%26#39;t think we will be staying there in the future. We did get one night comped with the players club card though, so that was a pretty good deal, we weren%26#39;t that big of gamblers.

    The Luxor

Luxor is fine for me. But by your user name I can tell you can handle all the rough.

a username tells you what people can handle? Hardly

OK I%26#39;ll bite. What is a snow concert?

My sister had some major issues with the Luxor regarding their rooms and their customer service. They did not do well in either area. The casino itself is not appealing to me. Not sure if the new club LAX has changed anything, but the Luxor is one property I generally avoid. I would stay at MGM or Mandalay if I stayed on the South Part of the strip. Monte Carlo, or NYNY would be my other choices after the first two. Planet Hollywood would be another option. If your not tied into that location- I would look at TI- great property whose weak spot is the pool which will be closed in December.

I what to know about the snow concert too! It%26#39;s not a regional thing as I live in the upstate and have never heard that before.

I have heard of the snow dance, what teachers do to get a snow day!

    Sorry guys...

It%26#39;s a typo.. I was asking if snow is a concern in December for the airport.

    Mike

    Ahhhhhh.....

I can%26#39;t speak for Spartanburg, but snow won%26#39;t be a problem at LAS. On the rare occassion there is snow in Vegas, it%26#39;s gone faster than it came.

If you are looking for a reasonable rate, you might want to checks out Harrahs.com for rates for Harrah%26#39;s , Bally%26#39;s and Flamingo should be close to the same rate and a lot better deal. They are located center of the strip and have good places to eat and good entertainment. The rooms are real nice and clean.

We stayed at the Luxor twice. The first time we had a pyramid room and really enjoyed it. No problems with the elevators. The next time, I had requested a pyramid room but I had somehow been ';upgraded'; to a tower room like they were doing me a favor. It seemed like it would take forever to get to our room. The room was recently refurbished, but the hallways looked worn down. We had an issue with our internet and someone fixed it right away. Otherwise it was fine.

I would stay at Luxor again, just not in the tower if it could be avoided. Half of my wedding guests are staying there this weekend. I told them all to request the pyramid.

I like the casino. Whenever we are there we pick a spot and the bartenders/cocktail waitresses would bring us our favorite drinks without asking after the first night.

1st time to vegas.. Downtown or the strip

Got a great deal from toronto to Vegas staying at the golden nugget for 500.00 cnd dollars for 2nights and three full days..... should we book it or spend more money and stay elsewhere.... need to know -got to book now....

    Thanks Jc

1st time to vegas.. Downtown or the strip

It depends entirely on your budget and what you want to do. More details will yield better recommendations.

Knowing nothing else I recommend staying on the strip, somewhere like Bally%26#39;s, Imperial Palace, or Mirage.

1st time to vegas.. Downtown or the strip

If it%26#39;s your first trip and you are coming to do more than gamble, I would HIGHLY suggest the Strip. Downtown can be fun, but the modern Vegas you%26#39;ve heard all about is on the Strip and commuting back and forth from Downtown everyday would be a pain, IMO.

Just me, but the GN should be cheaper than that. Maybe something is going on during that time. Is that price airfare included? Surely not.

You can stay on the strip for all the glitz and glamour if you like, but downtown is going to be cheaper and you can always get a cab/deuce bus, etc. to the strip. The GN is one of, if not THE nicest property downtown. I liked it.

Unless you have a rental car, I%26#39;d say stay on the strip for your first time. Make sure to visit downtown and see how you like it (many of us do like it there)....but as SC said, most of what you%26#39;ll likely see on your first trip is Strip Oriented.

Oops.....I meant ';As LauraSue said'; not SC....wrong thought process!!!

I agree with the others. Stay on the strip. Save downtown...Freemont Street experience for after dark when you can see the light show.

    You%26#39;ll see what we mean.

Our 7th trip is coming up and we still prefer to stay on the strip rather than downtown. We have visited downtown and it just wasn%26#39;t our thing.

I would definitely say stay on the strip, especially for a first visit.

The air and hotel for 500. cnd? Sounds like a real good deal if it is.. if its just hotel, not so much.

Like the previous posters, I think a first trip deserves the Strip. If you want to stay on the strip, also try Harrah%26#39;s and Bills.

Then again you will not get the whole Vegas experience in just 3 full days. I think downtown would be nice for a short trip because it is so easy to get around.

Downtown is good for casino hopping... they aren%26#39;t far apart or huge like the ones on the strip. You can also get a taxi to take you to the strip.. (I think about 20US plus tip).. not quite sure about that price but close...

But like the previous posters said, the glitz and glamor and tigers and shopping and indoor skies and statues and roller coaster rides... all on the strip.

First time - Definitely stay on the strip.

Two nights is simply not enough. If the $500 includes airfare for two, it may be a bargain but your too far from the stirp with not enough time to explore.

Do shop around for other packages and try to get 3 nights on the strip.

    Nevada Map Showing Scenic Stops

Four of us are visiting Vegas in Feb. 2008. The other couple traveling with us asked about a map of Neveda that shows all of the scenic stops between each town, and how far they are. I believe he called it a ';ticket map';? If anyone can give me information it would be greatly appreciated. I have been to Vegas many times, but this is the first time the other couple has been there, and they want to see as many scenic locations as possible. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Nevada Map Showing Scenic Stops

It sounds like the map you%26#39;re describing is called a tick trip, or trip tick. You get them from AAA, you have to be a member to get it. Well worth it though, it is your own personalized map, they will highlight the route you are taking and show you where there may be road construction, also shows driving distances, gas stations, hotels, points of interest, etc.

  • New Stratosphere Attraction!!!!!

    This just in!!!!

The Strat has come up w/ a new attraction which will surely appeal to all folks, young and old, alike.

They officially hired the ';West Sahara Dragons'; (you know, the gang that throws tourists off the observation deck ) and have created a bungee type ';ride';. Now, before they throw you off, one of the members, (';Blade';, I think) safely hooks you up to a new state of the art ';bungee'; cord, and...........WOOSH.........over the side you go!!!! Wow........ THIS SOUNDS LIKE TONS OF FUN!!!

Plus, every tourist going for ';the plunge'; gets a free t-shirt and is made an honorary ';Dragon'; for the day!!! And, get this.......instead of stealing your entire wallet, they only ask for a mere $10 fee............

Boy, this Vegas place ceases to amaze me!!!!

    2-fer

    :o)

    New Stratosphere Attraction!!!!!

OMG, bungee jump off the top of the stratosphere? A cold day in hell before I do that one! :)

    New Stratosphere Attraction!!!!!

Bungee jump for only $10? Did they get the bungee at a discount store?

I panic when I%26#39;m stainding on the observation deck at the Strat, can%26#39;t go near the edge. I think I%26#39;ll skip this when I%26#39;m there next week.

    ';Bungee jump for only $10? Did they get the bungee at a discount store?';

    LMAO....

Are you kidding me? I can%26#39;t muster enough gumption to even try one of the rides up there, much less throw myself off with a heavy duty rubber band.

I%26#39;ll skydive with H before I try this one (and I%26#39;m not about to tell H I%26#39;m ready to skydive either).

    Don%26#39;t feed the trolls.

    Do they supply a DIAPER?????

sounds barfarific! Be sure to hit the buffet before riding!

Love the Big shot but would NEVER attempt this one. Good luck to all those who may try.

This is not real. The strat website says nothing about it.

Young guy, traveling solo... what to do?

So, I just decided today to go to Vegas this weekend for the Forex (currency trading) expo. I%26#39;ll be at the conference during the days but not quite sure what to do at night (not really into strip clubs/ dance clubs and can%26#39;t afford to gamble the WHOLE time).

So, what%26#39;s a young, single guy with a reasonably limited budget do so as not to blow a whole trip in Vegas playing nickel slots?

    Thanks!

Young guy, traveling solo... what to do?

So, what%26#39;s a young, single guy with a reasonably limited budget do so as not to blow a whole trip in Vegas playing nickel slots?

    Nothing don%26#39;t go!!!!!!

    ;%26gt;)

Maybe look at all the different casinos.

Look for a hookup and party with the gender of your choice.

    See a show.

Young guy, traveling solo... what to do?

    patron-silver

finally a good answer from you!

Go to O%26#39;Shea%26#39;s and Casino Royale. I lot of young people in O%26#39;Sheas. Free karioke (don%26#39;t know the days and time though) and cheap drinks and gaming.

Rrom your profile , you like:

Beach / Sun Hit the pool at the hotel.

Museums / Cultural / Historical sites Wax Museum/vintage car museum/Hoover Dam

Theme / Amusement parks There are plenty of roller coaster type rides and the like around town.

Gambling / Casinos Plenty of those in Vegas.

Outdoor / Adventure Just walking around Vegas should be an adventure.

Great food / Wine Plenty of selections in this town! Check this site for reviews.

Golf Google Golf in Las Vegas

Sporting events Go to any Sports Book in any casino and watch it on the TV and make a small wager.

Concerts / Music festivals Elton John is in town and many many others...

I am sure you will have a good time because all of your interest lie right in Las Vegas.

Skip part of the conference and look around the pool at your hotel.. Do walk the strip and thru the hotels and see what you do not see walking in downtown detroit. just avoid the ladies who smile at you at the VP bars if you are short of cash.

Play one penny a spin on penny slots and get drunk for free not to mention checking out the cocktail waitresses in say the Venetian.

When you return to Detroit you will be already saving for your next trip.

The Wynn has the best cocktail waitresses- no question about it. Go check out the pool wherever you are staying.

Go to Harrah%26#39;s and listen to the dueling piano%26#39;s or go to Flamingo Margaritaville, reasonable eats and a nice bar. Check out the Belliago fountains, and Ceasar%26#39;s Palace moving statues near the Cheese Cake Factory in the forum. Imperial Palace has an auto collection that is interesting. Mirage has the shark reef. O%26#39;Shea%26#39;s for fun and cheap drinks. Paris go up the Eiffel Tower and NY NY check out the roller coaster. As you walk around you will see a lot of things that you can do. You could go to a good show, cheaper than gambling. I hope you have a great time in whatever you do.

    ';Mirage has the shark reef';

Really? I know Mandalay Bay has some such attraction and Golden Nugget downtown has sharks in the pool. Dolphins look like sharks to the untrained eye, maybe that%26#39;s what your thinking.

Maybe he is referring to the big aquarium behind the registration areas.

    Meet and Greet suggestion

When doing m%26amp;g this is just my suggestion when you get into wherever you plan to do the M%26amp;G at I suggest whoever thinks they are there first write on a napkin or something m%26amp;g table and that way all newbies won%26#39;t look stupid (like myself) walking around a bar.

    Meet and Greet suggestion

Dang...I really should have left Low%26#39;s mini CBCO at the Tequila Bar after ours for other groups to use. He made it really easy to spot us!! I agree.....make a sign, or get nametags (we had those too) or something else to make it obvious that it%26#39;s a group meeting!

    Meet and Greet suggestion

    I%26#39;m glad you agree

Yeah....I%26#39;m thinking back and we already had a group of 5 people there when the first two ';sets'; of us showed up, so I guess we looked like a group.....but I can see how if it was all just couples it would be hard to tell who was who.

I have not been to one yet but I thought about taking my TA backpack and lying it on the table, logo side up, that way, if I am first, others can spot me, or we can leave it out for late arrivals.

One person (hopefully someone who is on-time or early!) could wear a shirt that is really easy to spot or something, and post ahead of time what that shirt will look like. Something like tie-dye or a bright, attention-grabbing color. Once I work out my packing list for the October trip, I will be happy to advertise which shirt I%26#39;ll be wearing at the Bally%26#39;s Tequila Bar M%26amp;G on the 21st! Plus, at least 3 others attending already know what I look like, so we should have no such trouble.

    The TA backpack on the table is a great idea, but not if they never sent you one...%26lt;snif%26gt; %26lt;snif%26gt;

See.....you guys just need to nominate overzealous planners like myself %26amp; MadokaRN to organize your M %26amp; G%26#39;s . I had my TA backback....I was wearing a TA shirt.....we had name tags...AND the CBCO....and party gifts!! No way was anyone going to miss seeing our group! LOL.....

Sorry Spike. I thought about that after I hit ';submit';. I know some people didn%26#39;t get one for whatever reason. I didn%26#39;t get mine until late. I never did get the luggage tag. A bright or unusual shirt is a good idea too.

About that TA t-shirt...by the time I got my e-mail from them, they no longer had my size. Oh, the injustice of it all! :(

I actually paid for the one I was wearing at the M %26amp; G....and of course am now a getting free one....oh well!! You can never have too many shirts right?

    Sports betting ?

I am in LV for the presidents cup (golf). I am an addict and would like to bet and watch the event. Will there bets for this and if I bet and am not still there on Sunday at the end of the event how do I claim winnings. I have never placed a sports bet if you haven%26#39;t noticed.

    Thanks

    MJ

    Sports betting ?

you can mail a winning ticket to the casino - instructions are printed on the back of the ticket. they are clear and easy to follow.

    Sports betting ?

Can you suggest a good place to watch. I know golf is boring but there must be other%26#39;s interested. Really, I am serious.

    HEE HEe

I think all the Sportsbooks should have the Presidents Cup on...

I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago, and watched the PGA Event at the Excalibur and MGM sportsbooks, and yes I placed a bet on it, took Stephen Ames over Tiger :)

you can mail your winning ticket in, I have done that as well, takes a couple weeks.

The day I start betting on golf, is the day I KNOW I have a problem.

Most of the sportsbooks carry the bigger golf tournaments, because people bet on them.

You%26#39;ll find individual odds on the players on the big boards. As previous posters mentioned, you can mail in winning tickets and the casino will send you a check.

Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Caesars, Wynn, Hilton and Bally%26#39;s all have good sportsbooks.

some sports books have 60 day expiration just so you know..i remember when they were lifetime, then one year, then six months...now as i say coast for example is only 60 days...just fyi

forgot to mention harrahs is one year

The day I start betting on golf, is the day I KNOW I have a problem

    thank you for your input

op as for bets i know the hilton will post odds for the matchups each day good luck and enjoy your trip

  • Coupon Book

I%26#39;ve been reading several threads on the forums regarding coupon books. Which is the more valuable, POV or ACG? We will be spending a good amount of time in the Downtown area.

    Coupon Book

You can view all the coupons offered by both at these sites to decide what%26#39;s best for you:

    www.americancasinoguide.com

    www.lasvegasadvisor.com

As I%26#39;ve posted in the past....if you buy the American Casino Guide thru Amazon or E-bay, please check it immediatly to make sure all the Vegas coupons are there. I rec%26#39;d the book, they were missing a lot of pages/coupons and Amazon sent a replacement ';overnight'; which arrived the ';day'; before we left for Vegas. Whew!!

    Coupon Book

Also, the ACG coupons expire at the end of December 07. The new ones will be out late November.

I would just check their web sites which will list all of the coupons. You can then compare them and decide. Some people get both.

I am soooo glad you asked this, as I have been wondering the same thing. I understand the ACG expires at the end of the year, but what about POV? Expiration? Thanks!

    Mrs. G

good question . I have compared them and still would like a personal opinion and why.

IMO, I like the ACG because it not only contains coupons (not just for LV), but it also has information on casinos(casino size, contact #%26#39;s, web site info, phone#%26#39;s, restaurant/hotel info) across the US w/maps. Also some great reading within the book%26#39;s articles. Too much info to list, but a lot about slots (slot clubs, comps, tournaments %26amp; taxes, slot machine trends), video poker strategy, detail info on all games played at the casinos and how-to play tips, the formulas casino%26#39;s use to compute comps etc etc. I contacted ACG about when 08%26#39; will be available and this is what I rec%26#39;d back........That book will be for sale in late October through us, or early November in bookstores and other web sites. If you sign up for our newsletter you will be sent an offer to buy it at a special pre-publication price. The next question I asked was if the 08%26#39; coupons could be used prior to that year as it doesn%26#39;t have a ';start'; date, just an expiration date....I%26#39;m now waiting for their reply. I love checking out the Las Vegas Advisor site from time to time as it does have more detail info on the casinos/hotels/restaurants in LV. If it%26#39;s just the coupons you%26#39;re interested in, I think it%26#39;s just a matter of comparing and personal choice on what you like, where you want to stay and eat and if you%26#39;re either interested in slot$ or the table$. BTW....sorry for rambling on tonight....I had my Wheaties. Hun

amazon.com has the 2008 acg (pre-order) and the 2007 acg.

The 2007 are new and used (some coupons missing). If you order, be careful as to which one you are getting. The 2008 is due to be released 11/30. Free s%26amp;h on the 2008.

    Good Luck.

Both are excellent coupon books. ACG, as noted, offers coupons for other casino destinations as well as Vegas, plus general hotel and gambling information. I personally feel too many of their coupons are for lower level buffets.

I am a proud pimp for Las Vegas Advisor and the POV. It costs more because you are paying for subscriber-only website access; the POV is, technically, regarded as a premium for members. POV offers coupons for better dining establishments and shows that are exclusive to the package. Examples:

50% off (up to $50 credit) at Palms, good for hotel room, spa, club admission, or Garduno%26#39;s restaurant, among other options

2-for-1 at House of Blues in Mandalay Bay

$10 off Paris buffet (not per person)

    2-for-1 at Bally%26#39;s buffet

    2-for-1 at Jubilee show

50% off meal at Roberta%26#39;s in El Cortez

2-for-1 at Bay City Diner in Golden Gate, arguably the best coffee shop in Vegas

Follow-up: nobody should ever buy a used coupon book. Odds are the coupons you want to use will be the ones that are missing.

Regarding available date for the ACG......(from my previous post)

I contacted ACG about when 08%26#39; will be available and this is what I rec%26#39;d back........';That book will be for sale in late October through us, or early November in bookstores and other web sites. If you sign up for our newsletter you will be sent an offer to buy it at a special pre-publication price';. The next question I asked was if the 08%26#39; coupons could be used prior to that year as it doesn%26#39;t have a ';start'; date, just an expiration date....I%26#39;m now waiting for their reply.

The reply I rec%26#39;d about using the coupons before 08%26#39; was this.....';The coupons can be used as soon as the book comes out';.

This info is straight from ACG and I agree with posters.....be careful about buying ';used'; books. Even the ';new'; book I bought thru Amazon had missing LV pages/coupons. They replaced.

    Best Italian and Mexican Restaurants

Can anyone recommend the best Italian and Mexican restaurants in Vegas? We are looking for quite casual places (not too stuffy.)

    Thanks.

    Best Italian and Mexican Restaurants

Do a search on the forum and there is a wealth of information on all things food in LV.

    Best Italian and Mexican Restaurants

';Best'; is an incredibly subjective word and people%26#39;s opinions are going to differ hugely. You%26#39;re really going to get nothing more than a list of people%26#39;s own favorite places.

For what it%26#39;s worth my favorite Italian places are Pasta Shop and Casa di Amore. The only really good Mexican I%26#39;ve had in Vegas was at Lindo Michoacan, following recommendations on this forum. All of these are off-Strip and are extremely casual as well as being a lot better value than most places you%26#39;ll find in Strip hotels.

    Thanks for the info Blagger.

I understand that the term ';best'; is subjective. Afterall, ';one man%26#39;s meat is another man%26#39;s poison'; etc. Which on-strip restaurants do you recommend? They don%26#39;t have to be Italian or Mexican.

A really good Italian place is Maggianos Little Italy in the Fashion Show Mall, very reasonable prices and excellent food. Always make a stop there while in Vegas.

My new favorite italian restaurant is Penazzi%26#39;s at Harrah%26#39;s. The food is excellent.

We%26#39;ve eaten at Onda at the Mirage. Pricy but good. We are staying at the Bellagio in Nov. andare looking for a above average Italian. Not sure if Circo is worth the $. Anyone help us on that line? We have eaten at Maggiano%26#39;s many times it%26#39;s ok.

Fiamma at MGM Grand was pretty good, cool environment, but not cheap. About $250 w/tip for four of us, with two not eating expensively and one not drinking.

I like the Italian Food at Penazzi at Harrah%26#39;s very good. Mexican Food place, sorry can%26#39;t help you there. I haven%26#39;t found a place yet., but I am from Texas and the Mexican Food don%26#39;t compare at all. I have eaten at Taco Bell for a quick fix. It is more American-Mexican Food.

Try the Market Cafe in the Monte Carlo Hotel. It doesn%26#39;t need a disclaimer like ';pricey, but good';. It%26#39;s just really good.

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

    Please keep them coming.

New Years Day (what's open..whats not??)

Just a quick question about shops and stuff on New Years Day.

Is the oultet at Primm on the way into Veags open New Years Day? Ive been to the webste and done the searches but cant ind if its open new years day? We will be driving from Anaheim to Vegas NYD and wanted to stop and do some shopping...

    does anybody know for sure??

Also is Veags quieter just after new years? what will the area be like around this time??

    Thanks !

    Matt

New Years Day (what's open..whats not??)

just called they are open 10am-8pm new years day will be busy with all the hangovers and football but should slow after that

    have fun!

New Years Day (what's open..whats not??)

    Awesome!!

Thanks alot vegastaco! that was really nice of you to ring! i really appreciate it!

Looks like we will be leaving Anaheim pretty early to try and get in before the rush!!

The Sportsbooks will be open- New Years Day is about College football bowl games, and making resolutions you will struggle to keep....

    Matt buzz,

We are also arriving on NYD. Couldn%26#39;t pass up the cheap airfare and hotel rooms. Flamingo was only 50 dollars a night. I am sure things will be open. I don%26#39;t think Vegas ever closes down. Also NYD is a big shopping day in the States for all the football widows.

    aahh ok cool

I League season finishes in the next fortnight... over here in Australia NYD is an official day of hangovers!! and sleeping in! nothing at all is open,

yep we are spending a few nights at the flamingo as well! i agree $50 bucks a night is really cheap!! thats the reason why we decided to go to vegas then also!! :)

how expensive are the bars and clubs

    Hi

I am off to vegas next week. What is the average price for a beer/wine? Is there any happy hour or promotions nights to look out for

how expensive are the bars and clubs

Depends on what and where you are drinking.

It probably averages $5.00 a drink with a whole lot of room above and under that price.

There are promotions and of course the comped drinks when playing.

The ambience of the place has a lot to do with the prices.

For example a standard bottle of Miller Lite will cost a lot more at Bellagio than the same bottle at O%26#39;Shea%26#39;s and less Downtown.

Most places have some sort of deal going.

Getting you drunk and careless then in the mood to gamble is where they make their money.

Cheapo Las Vegas has a section on how to get by on the cheap.

how expensive are the bars and clubs

I was paying $22 for a double of Captain and Coke at Rum Jungle. I recommend getting drunk before you enter the club so paying thoses prices don%26#39;t hurt as bad.

Last drink I remember was at a bar in paris

A single black label was $8

Two of us each had double Gin %26amp; 7s and when they brought them to us it was $44. I tried not to fall over. Best drink I ever had, so strong. That was at the lounge in Bally%26#39;s.

Lots of happy hour from 4-7 where you can get better deals on specific drinks.

I can see it now, this will end up as a boast that people paid something insane for a drink at a certain place and don%26#39;t forget about bottle service.

    Chitown don%26#39;t play that.

For simple low rollers like me, Downtown usually has cheap and powerful drinks, Mermaids with an extra shot comes to mind for that. Dollar drafts can be found at a lot of little places Downtown.

For instance a can of Busch Beer is a buck at the Atomic and they even open it for you.

On the Strip try O%26#39;Shea%26#39;s, Bills etc.

I remember getting a 12 pack at the 7-11 that used to be at Fremont and the Blvd. Later that day I ordered a bottle of the same at a bar in a fancy place on the Strip and the bottle cost as much as the 12 pack.

There are ';package goods liqour stores'; with bottles to go downtown and all along the Strip so why not pickup a few drinks at half the price as in the bar then walk along with them.

I drink beer and usually get a stash of beer and chips for the room and keep it on ice in the fridge or a cheap cooler with free hotel ice.

If you get the same type of beer that they sell in the casinos you can walk in with your own much cheaper bottle

Don%26#39;t rule out the classic hip flask.

Yes someone is bound to say free drinks when playing but they won%26#39;t say that they also lost $50.00 in order to get a $2.00 drink.

Final thought BEER - Not Just For Breakfast Anymore.

If you are talking about an actual club or a nice high end bar/lounge at night then 7/beer, 8/shots, 11-20s for speciality or mixed drinks.

There are deals to be had- Slots a Fun and Casino Royale each have 1 dollar drink specials.

If you really just want to drink then sit at a decent Keno Lounge and order drinks from the cocktail waitress or go to a bar that allows free drinks while playing VP and put in 20/ hr or so and play slow... I took my strategy card and played VP slooowly and tipped well and was taken care of by the bartender.

    * I did want to add that I mean sit and play at a keno area

    Andre's restaurant

I was just wondering if there is alot of difference in the two Andre%26#39;s restaurants, I have noticed that when people recommend Andre%26#39;s they always seem to write ';downtown'; after it. Is this because the one in the Monte Carlo is inferior in someway?

    Andre's restaurant

The downtown one is the original, just seems to have a little more ambiance to it.

It%26#39;s been awhile since Iv%26#39;e been to the Monte one, personally I really didn%26#39;t notice a big difference in food quality or service. .

    Andre's restaurant

The restaurant at MC is perfectly ok, in fact it%26#39;s more than that, it%26#39;s very good indeed, but the original Downtown Andre%26#39;s has a unique very special romantic ambience. If it%26#39;s a special meal for two then definitely make the effort to go Downtown, if it%26#39;s a larger party then it%26#39;s not such a big deal.

I would go with the one downtown. I think it is much nicer.

We haven%26#39;t been to the one downtown, but the one at the MC was very nice and had excellent food.

I prefer the downtown location, if I didn%26#39;t go there I%26#39;d go to Alize at the Palms.

Is there a difference in price?

You can compare the menus and prices for the original(downtown), the one at the MC and Alize at this site:

    http://andrelv.com/original/

I definitely prefer the one downtown.

  • Fun Dinner

Looking for a fun place to organize a group dinner for my best friends birthday (around 12 of us). Planning on going to Tao one night and would like something similar for the other night.

    Fun Dinner

The Palm at the Forum shops.

    Fun Dinner

I think that Alize at the Palms would be a good place for you to go, seems to fit in with the sort of thing you want restaurant wise. Other than that, I%26#39;d say go to Prime or Picasso at Bellagio, both are absolutely wonderful. You can view menus from all three online.

    Las Vegas Hotel

We are looking at the Four Seasons or Bellagio? We value good service, good breakfasts, excellent gym and walking distance to restaurants. We are thinking Bellagio as it is more of the Vegas casino experience vs the Four Seasons which seems to be just a hotel. Any other suggestions? We will be in Vegas mid December. Thanks.

    Las Vegas Hotel

FS is a fantastic hotel with levels of service and luxury better than just about anything else on the Strip. However if you want the maximum Vegas experience then Bellagio would be a far better option.

    Las Vegas Hotel

I agree with blagger, Bellagio would suit your needs better than the Four Seasons since there is a casino there and you can walk to restaurants in the area. Bellagio is right center strip so you just have to walk out the door to get most everywhere you%26#39;d want to go.

If you do stay at Bellagio, they also have excellent restaurants there. I highly recommend Prime and Picasso, both are wonderful!

For what your looking for stay at the B.

    Any other suggestions

    Caesars

    Wynn

    Venetian

Carla, Stayed in Bellagio for 4 days this August - OUT OF THIS WORLD. Get a Lake view room and see the fountains (and the music is played on the telly). Definitely recommend it.

Thank you all! Convinced beyond doubt thr Bellagio is the way to go.

    I stayed in a lakeview room at Bellagio 2 years ago, we looked directly out on the lakes and fountains and had Paris and the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop, we were on either the 24th or 25th floor, loved it. This past week I had a pool view room, I think I preferred this view to the lakeview one, it was very relaxing. We ate at Prime one night and sat by the windows and had coffee and dessert out on the Prime patio so saw severl fountain numbers right there, that took care of our %26#39;fountains fix.%26#39;
