Grand Canyon?

Would like to do a trip to Grand Canyon while in Vegas. Any suggestion on who to use? Maybe some type of helicopter trip?

Grand Canyon?

Helicopter trips to the Canyon only work if you don%26#39;t mind spending $300 a person and accepting that you will only get a glimpse of the Canyon. You will likely have less than an hour there. In my book, you need to spend an overnight, or at least a few hours. The only way to do that is to take the time to drive there. I know there are many who disagree with me, but the Grand Canyon is meant to be a destination by itself.

Grand Canyon?

I agree with you. But I think you can see a lot if your helicopter lands in the canyon and gives you some time on the canyon floor. Other than that, I wouldn%26#39;t don%26#39;t bother with just a fly over. Why not take in some of the local beauty, like Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire or the Hoover Dam. I don%26#39;t think they%26#39;d disappoint you.

The Hoover Dam may be fun, especially with Vegas Vacation popping in my head - hehe Any suggestions on Hoover Dam tours?

What about just renting a car for the day? It%26#39;ll probably cost less than 2 people paying for a bus tour to the dam. Then you can add on Red Rock Canyon or whatever else you want to do. Maybe stop at the store if you need something.

That would probably be fun! Any suggestions for rental car companies nearby?

Yes, rent a car. Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam are all possibilities for day trips. But don%26#39;t try to do the Grand Canyon in one day. It is a five hour trip each way.

Check your hotel or check out sidestep.com. I think you can search there for rental cars as well. Book early for the lowest rates and then keep checking back to make sure they haven%26#39;t dropped.

We only arrived home from Vegas yesterday, had a fantastic time. we stayed at the Bellagio and they recommend Maverick for the Grand Canyon helicopter trips, so we went with them, they were excellent we went on the sunset wind dancer tour, which was brilliant we also flew over valley of fire, lake mead and the hoover dam, we also landed in the GC had champagne and snacks it was amazing, our pilot Pat was great, very good company and great safety record and the best helicopters.

ChelseaBabe

chelseababe - how long did you actually get at the canyon?

ChelseaBabe,

I agree that Maverick is a great company, and also that your view of the Canyon by Helicopter is amazing. Unless you%26#39;ve actually done one, you can really not comment on what you see, as you do see a lot. Their safty record is one of the best (not the best) and I don%26#39;t agree they use the best helicopters, just the most expensive.

There are other companies I would recommend over Maverick, only because they have a lower price, for as great as Maverick is, they do charge a premium rate.

Others have enjoyed Papillon, but they are not my favorite company, for a couple different reasons.

I preffer Sundance. They are a great company with a great safety record, and wonderful customer service, but at the same time won%26#39;t break your bank.
