I%26#39;ve been reading several threads on the forums regarding coupon books. Which is the more valuable, POV or ACG? We will be spending a good amount of time in the Downtown area.
Coupon Book
You can view all the coupons offered by both at these sites to decide what%26#39;s best for you:
www.americancasinoguide.com
www.lasvegasadvisor.com
As I%26#39;ve posted in the past....if you buy the American Casino Guide thru Amazon or E-bay, please check it immediatly to make sure all the Vegas coupons are there. I rec%26#39;d the book, they were missing a lot of pages/coupons and Amazon sent a replacement ';overnight'; which arrived the ';day'; before we left for Vegas. Whew!!
Coupon Book
Also, the ACG coupons expire at the end of December 07. The new ones will be out late November.
I would just check their web sites which will list all of the coupons. You can then compare them and decide. Some people get both.
I am soooo glad you asked this, as I have been wondering the same thing. I understand the ACG expires at the end of the year, but what about POV? Expiration? Thanks!
Mrs. G
good question . I have compared them and still would like a personal opinion and why.
IMO, I like the ACG because it not only contains coupons (not just for LV), but it also has information on casinos(casino size, contact #%26#39;s, web site info, phone#%26#39;s, restaurant/hotel info) across the US w/maps. Also some great reading within the book%26#39;s articles. Too much info to list, but a lot about slots (slot clubs, comps, tournaments %26amp; taxes, slot machine trends), video poker strategy, detail info on all games played at the casinos and how-to play tips, the formulas casino%26#39;s use to compute comps etc etc. I contacted ACG about when 08%26#39; will be available and this is what I rec%26#39;d back........That book will be for sale in late October through us, or early November in bookstores and other web sites. If you sign up for our newsletter you will be sent an offer to buy it at a special pre-publication price. The next question I asked was if the 08%26#39; coupons could be used prior to that year as it doesn%26#39;t have a ';start'; date, just an expiration date....I%26#39;m now waiting for their reply. I love checking out the Las Vegas Advisor site from time to time as it does have more detail info on the casinos/hotels/restaurants in LV. If it%26#39;s just the coupons you%26#39;re interested in, I think it%26#39;s just a matter of comparing and personal choice on what you like, where you want to stay and eat and if you%26#39;re either interested in slot$ or the table$. BTW....sorry for rambling on tonight....I had my Wheaties. Hun
amazon.com has the 2008 acg (pre-order) and the 2007 acg.
The 2007 are new and used (some coupons missing). If you order, be careful as to which one you are getting. The 2008 is due to be released 11/30. Free s%26amp;h on the 2008.
Good Luck.
Both are excellent coupon books. ACG, as noted, offers coupons for other casino destinations as well as Vegas, plus general hotel and gambling information. I personally feel too many of their coupons are for lower level buffets.
I am a proud pimp for Las Vegas Advisor and the POV. It costs more because you are paying for subscriber-only website access; the POV is, technically, regarded as a premium for members. POV offers coupons for better dining establishments and shows that are exclusive to the package. Examples:
50% off (up to $50 credit) at Palms, good for hotel room, spa, club admission, or Garduno%26#39;s restaurant, among other options
2-for-1 at House of Blues in Mandalay Bay
$10 off Paris buffet (not per person)
2-for-1 at Bally%26#39;s buffet
2-for-1 at Jubilee show
50% off meal at Roberta%26#39;s in El Cortez
2-for-1 at Bay City Diner in Golden Gate, arguably the best coffee shop in Vegas
Follow-up: nobody should ever buy a used coupon book. Odds are the coupons you want to use will be the ones that are missing.
Regarding available date for the ACG......(from my previous post)
I contacted ACG about when 08%26#39; will be available and this is what I rec%26#39;d back........';That book will be for sale in late October through us, or early November in bookstores and other web sites. If you sign up for our newsletter you will be sent an offer to buy it at a special pre-publication price';. The next question I asked was if the 08%26#39; coupons could be used prior to that year as it doesn%26#39;t have a ';start'; date, just an expiration date....I%26#39;m now waiting for their reply.
The reply I rec%26#39;d about using the coupons before 08%26#39; was this.....';The coupons can be used as soon as the book comes out';.
This info is straight from ACG and I agree with posters.....be careful about buying ';used'; books. Even the ';new'; book I bought thru Amazon had missing LV pages/coupons. They replaced.
