Where do the locals go to gamble?

Where do the locals go to gamble? Is there hotels that are known to pay out better? Cheap blackjack off the strip?

thanks

Where do the locals go to gamble?

I am from the Seatlle area, but have several friends who live in and around Vegas. From these friends I have learned that most of the locals only gamble when they have outsiders come to visit. When they do gamble they usually recommend the Station casinos because these are off the strip and driving on the strip is a real pain with all the tourists gawking at the lights, scenery, and other free show.

';locals casinos'; are also referred to as ';off strip';. Some are Sam%26#39;s Town, Plams (great VP), Arizonia Charlie%26#39;s (both locations), Texas station and

If it is not on the strip or downtown- it is probably a casino that the locals use. Stations, Coast, Sam%26#39;s Town, etc. are all frequented by locals. Locals also gamble in neighborhood bars- and sometimes even the supermarkets(although I don%26#39;t think the payouts are as good).

Yea, there%26#39;s something about winning 3 cantelopes and a tomato that%26#39;s just not as fun as winning 100 bucks lol.

Although I rarely would gamble in a supermarket- I did win a Royal Flush at Smith%26#39;s on Tropicana and Jones! Not bad for a trip to buy water and $10 in a VP machine.

Local Casinos (eg. RedRock, Green Valley, SunCoast, Arizona Charlies) do a lot of promotions to attract locals.

Payout may not be that much better, but they sure give away a lot of freebies to their patrons who accumulate points on their cards. Every weekend you see them lining up to get their gifts.

Locals, like I do in Chicago, will want to avoid the tourist areas like the plague going there only when there is company in town.

Then again there are rich locals and not so rich locals and some not so rich locals will end up Downtown at the Gold Spike and Western or in North Las Vegas, Silver Nugget etc. The Station chain caters to them as well, just ask OJ about how well he was treated at Palace Station Casino. What the locals want is a place that they can drive to, park easily gamble a while then drive home for dinner. Not the Sirens show nor magic volcano - fountain tourist stuff. These places are supposed to have better payouts since they don鈥檛 have to support those tourist attractions.

I know a few locals that like downtown..as well as the Stations...Golden nugget and four queens are popular!
