Where to go in Reno/Lake Tahoe with Teenagers?

My boyfriend and I are taking my daughters (17%26amp;14) for a weekend trip next month (Oct 12-15). We were thinking about going to Reno or Lake Tahoe. I am confused about the best place to stay and what there would be to do for fun and keeping the teenagers entertained. My boyfriend and I are both 33. While we enjoy beautiful scenary, we like fun and excitement also.

Here are some questions that would be awesome if

1- Do we stay in Reno or Lake Tahoe?

2- Do we rent a car to go site seeing?

3- What is the weather like in mid-October?

4- Is there somewhere else we should go instead of Lake Tahoe/Reno?

I hope you post this on the Lake Tahoe forum as well, because the local experts there would be of great help as far as stuff to do up at the lake.

As far as Reno goes, I would definitely rent a car if I were you...Reno is a little spread out and there are a few day trips you could take that would necesitate a car.

Thinking about stuff you would want to do with teenage girls: in the city of Reno itself you will find many of the hotel/casinos have pretty expansive arcades, particularly the Grand Sierra (which also has laser tag and a pretty nice bowling alley) and Circus Circus has some circus acts and lots of games as well, both arcade and carnival type. There%26#39;s lots of good shopping along California Avenue and a really nice new outdoor mall in the south of Reno called Summit Sierra where you could easily spend a few hours eating and walking around/shopping. You can also walk along the downtown Truckee river where you%26#39;ll find lots of little shops, coffee shops, and cafes. Daytrips could include Virginia City (a very easy drive from Reno) or Tahoe.

In October it%26#39;s usually getting pretty chilly, and we occasionally start to see snow (although it%26#39;s not common). You%26#39;ll likely find temperatures to be in the high 50%26#39;s to mid 60%26#39;s during the day, dipping down into the high 30%26#39;s at night.

As far as where else to go for a weekend trip...there are SOOO many choices, depending on what you guys like to do! Are you definite on wanting to come out west? If so, San Diego, Santa Barbara, or San Francisco might be good choices as well, depending on what you%26#39;re looking for. I also love Seattle, WA.

Best spot for teens IMO is John Ascuagas Nugget in sparks as they have a marvelous pool area. Huge about 2 acres with spas %26amp;a Olympic size pool with high high ceilings so it almost seems outdoors. The roof does open but it will most likely be too cool in October.

Wow, thank you for the comments. I will definitely check out the places you suggested. I will also post on the Lake Tahoe forum. My boyfriend and I were discussing the trip last night and we definitely want to go horseback riding. Is there a particular place (area) to do that which is better than another?

There are lots of places in the Tahoe area, I don%26#39;t know of any in Reno. Ask SuzieTravels in the Lake Tahoe forum and she%26#39;ll be able to lend you more info, I%26#39;m sure.
