Hotel advise pls

I know its early but we booked our flight to Vegas for 15th March cause we got a good price on the flight. Our travel agent got us the following prices for these hotels, any opinions? Are these good prices? Should we wait till we get closer to the dates ?

We are looking for a nice hotel on the Strip.

The Bellagio $410 per room per night

The Venetian $220 per room per night

Wynn Hotel $210 per room per night

MGM Grand $250 per room per night

Caesars Palace $200 per room per night

Thanks

Firstly, I recommend that you DON%26#39;t book through a travel agent! You will be able to get much better prices by going through the hotels websites, which you can get by putting ';bellagio'; into google or whatever search engine you use.

By booking direct with the hotel you will get a better room - hotels save their better rooms for people who have booked directly and give the less desirable rooms to the third party agents to sell.

Also, if you gamble at the casino you will have more of a chance of building up comp points which can be used at the end of your stay to knock certain amounts off the total bill. If you book through a travel agent you cannot do this as the accommodation has been paid for already.

But probably the biggest thing is if you book directly at whatever rate is advertised, keep an eye on the rates and if they go down, you can phone the hotel and get your rate lowered to the new rate.

I would go to the various websites and check out the prices for the dates you%26#39;re going, then pick the hotel that%26#39;s right for you and book it now. You have nothing to lose by doing this because as I say, if the rates go down, phone the hotel and change to the lower rate - its standard procedure in Vegas.

JarJar%26#39;s advice is sound.

I%26#39;ll just add that (though it%26#39;s too late for this trip) you should NEVER book flights to Vegas without first having a look to get a rough idea of what hotel rates are looking like for when you%26#39;re thinking of traveling. Sites like Expedia can be a good tool for getting a feel for the market. There%26#39;s no point in getting a great deal on your flights if you%26#39;re headed to Vegas when a huge convention or some other big event means that hotel rates are sky high.

Those Wynn and Venetian rates look good, for starting on a Sat night. I would go ahead and book, then relax and plan the rest of the trip

I agree with dkekitalo. The rates for Venetian and Wynn look good. The rates for Caesars, MGM and Bellagio look high - for that rate you should have an upgraded room. If not, your trip may correspond to a high traffic period.

It wouldn%26#39;t be a bad idea to have something booked now directly with the hotel but for March I wouldn%26#39;t expect to see the best rates before November.

Listen to Jar and blagger. Go to the hotel website, if prices drop you can go back to the hotel and get the reduced rate. I do not believe a travel agent will do that. If you go to this link you can click on each hotel and there will be a link direct to the hotel website so you won%26#39;t have to search for them.

I guess to a certain extent it depends on how concerned you are about the budget, how much you will gamble or what you are looking for from your Vegas experience.

I have learned the hard way that booking directly with the hotel is the best way to go. Fully agree with Jar Jar

Book at whatever hotel or hotels that you like right now, then keep your eyes peeled for better rates or look for promotion codes here on TA or on Fatwallet as your trip approaches.

Having said that, given the date of your trip you may have a more difficult time finding a good rate. March can be an expensive month because of March madness and conventions.

Good luck on the hunt and have fun on your trip!

My want to get a players card for the hotel casino if you book using a promo code. I just did that at MGM -- used a promo code to get $69/night for a Sun/Mon night stay (rack rate for Sat night). I signed up for a Players card on-line in case they asked for my nbr, then picked it up before checking in. They never asked for it though.

Bellagio and MGM- horrible prices

Caesars - ok

Venetian and Wynn - those are pretty good prices

I would go with Wynn if I were you.

Venetian and Wynn rates look good.

I would probably opt for the Venetian.

The trouble with booking flights, hotels etc seperately and not via a travel agent as a ackage is:

Most people will for example arrive on a Sunday and find out that they booked the hotel for a Monday!!!
