Best Magic Show

Hi guys,

I will be visiting Las Vegas in the last week of October with 3 other friends (we are all in our min 20%26#39;s) and would like to see a good magic show.

David Coperfield is not in town for that period, has anyone got any other recommendations? What about Lance Burton? though I heard it%26#39;s really aimed for the kids?

Many thanks in advance.

Best Magic Show

Burton%26#39;s appeal is universal. It%26#39;s very difficult for somebody of any age to dislike his show.

Here%26#39;s a great post from last month by a TA contributor called stuckintraffic. Used with his permission, it%26#39;s covers just about all your options:

';Being a magician myself, I expect more out of a show, but one of those things is audience enjoyment. There are a lot of magic shows playing right now and there is a wide range in quality. A lot of that depends on your expectation. In my opinion this is how they stack up (in order):

1. Mac King- (Harrahs)He is best friends with Lance Burton and shares a lot of the same personality traits (sincere, funny, down to earth). What gives Mac the edge over everybody as far as I%26#39;m concerned is that he does two shows a day (1 %26amp; 3) so you can see his show without missing another one, he really enjoys his audiences and it shows. His is a very family friendly show. It%26#39;s not a large scale show, but it is hilarious, he%26#39;s a great magician, if you pick up the coupons they hand out around Harrah%26#39;s you can see the show for $8 and that includes a drink! After the show he is at the door to sign autographs and take pictures, he%26#39;s just a really neat guy, and dollar for dollar the best show in town.

2. Lance Burton- (Monte Carlo)Mac King with a huge budget. A good old Kentucky boy that will blow you away with his show, and still a good value. If you want to see one large scale magic show, see this one,

3. Penn %26amp; Teller- (Rio)The Bad Boys of Magic. Two of my all time favorites, but not for everybody. Tickets are on the higher end for a magic show.

4. Hans Klok- (Planet Hollywood)Relatively new to Vegas, but a very popular magician in Europe, He is known for his speed in performing an illusion. I saw him several years ago and was stunned by his skill. He is sold out at most shows. He is playing the Vegas game by using big name celebrity women in his act, right now he is using Pamela Anderson.

5. The World%26#39;s Greatest Magic- (Greek Isles) A variety magic show with a rotating cast of magicians some of which are among the best in the business on their own especially Kevin James, Paul Kozak, and The Majestix.

6.Amazing Jonathon (Sahara) Again, like Penn %26amp; Teller, not for everyone (he%26#39;s been called the Freddy Kruegger of magic) he is one of the funniest and most talented out there, but he IS out there, and he is going to be retiring soon.

7. Nathan Burton (Planet Hollywood)- Another mid-day show, he is fun, and worth the $17, but not the first magician I%26#39;d go see.

Those are the ones I would pay to see. (and I have seen all of them)

Those I wouldn%26#39;t pay to see (or see again, because I have seen them all also)

David Copperfield- A bigger ego than he is a star, and the most expensive magic show in town.

Steve Wyrick, Dirk Arthur, Dixie Dooley- Are all just average magicians with a big budget.

Best Magic Show

Lance Burton is one of the best LV offers.

DC shows have not been that good lately.

Wow that%26#39;s for your quick reply.

I think we will go for Lance Burton. In terms of tickets should we buy in advance from monte Carlo%26#39;s website or should we wait until we get there to see if there is any bargain?

Thanks again.

Lance Burton tickets are sometimes available at a discount at quiet times but it%26#39;s impossible to say for any given night. As you%26#39;re traveling from the UK I would buy in advance to avoid disappointment. Either call the box office or buy via the MC website.

Lance Burton show is great! Can get $10 off discount when u book through the website.

Just saw Mac King for the second time, and it was hilarious.... again. Definately worth it.

Oh...so why do I always get to read these forums AFTER I have made huge mistake....

prebooked Copperfield - cause teenage Son loves magic shows and thought he must be better now that when we saw him here in Australia....

Does the show dissappoint or just that his head is so big that everyone hates him

did hear- after I bought tickets - that he is getting a little worn out and bored!

Oh well - can%26#39;t look back now- teens will love anything we take them to and just being in Vegas will be a thrill

will definately see Mac King!!!!

any other shows suitable for teens- 16 and 13
