Hi
My boyfriend and I will be hitting Vegas next May (Im a little early I know. It%26#39;s just too exciting). We wont be there for long as we want to do the Grand Canyon as well, all in about 5 days. I know there%26#39;s already lots of forums and recommendations on here regarding hotels but Im being selfish and want people to tell me their honest opinions of what%26#39;s hot and what%26#39;s not.
We%26#39;ll be on a pretty tight budget as we%26#39;ll also be seeing Boston, Niagara, DC, Seattle and San Fran. So spending a lot is not really an option. Howvere, we dont want to compromise on fun and high standard of service. So, do any of you budding Vegas fans have any tips or suggestions for us? We dont mind walking places, but dont want to be completely out of the action. We dont mind a bit of noise but not be able to sleep for a week would not make us the happiest of people.
Thank you so much in advance for replying. I really appreciate it.
Jo
First time, low budget, but looking for memorable stay
Do you mean you have 5 days just in Vegas or that you%26#39;re doing Vegas, Grand Canyon, Boston, Niagra, DC, Seattle and San Fran all in 5 days?
also, can you be more specific with your budget, ie. how much do you want to spend per night? $100, $50 per night? To be honest, if you%26#39;re on a really really tight budget you%26#39;re not going to be able to afford the luxury of staying in the %26#39;hot%26#39; places, but you will definitely get some fairly decent places, but its all dependant on your budget, so if you could give that it would be a help.
A sincere piece of advice - take ear plugs!!!

JarJar - Flamingo is budget center of the action you can get higher floors for more quite rooms.
May in Vegas is wonderful for the pool and Flamingo has a nice pool.
Cheers,
CS
Imperial Palace - basic hotel but in a GREAT location, right in the heart of the strip - and the people there are wonderful.
Thank you, but I already have reservations...... ;-)
First of all, no matter where you stay and what you do, you guys will LOVE Las vegas.
To answer your questions (they were too general), I have to give you general answers. If you need more detailed answers, then post another detailed question.
No matter where you stay in Vegas, there will not be any noise, and you can sleep all night.
1- Since it is your first trip, stay on the strip, or close by, off strip hotels.
Do not stay in down town
Probably the cheapest hotel in that area will be, Bill%26#39;s gambling Hall, (great strip location, but very small hotel), or Orleans and Gold coast, both off the strip, but reasonable prices.
You will not get the great service and luxury of Bellagio, in these hotels, but you also won%26#39;t pay a lot for the rooms.
My suggestion will be, to spend most of your budget, of food and entertainment.
Try one of the good buffets, for breakfast and dinner, and then decide if you want to do, more or less for your next meal.
I have been to UK and I know the hotel prices over there is much higher than in Vegas, so basically, an $80 a night hotel in Vegas, will give you more, than a $150 to $200 hotel in London!!!!!
Most travel agents in UK recommend (push) Circus Circus as a good hotel - Trust us, CC is the worst hotel you can stay in vegas.
Although most of us don%26#39;t like Imperial Palace, if its price is within your budget, I will recommend that to you.
Any other questions, post or message me
For a general answer, that was pretty detailed, thanks!! My friend stayed at CC and said it was awful. Ive seen posts on here saying Terribles is better than expected. Any experience about this place?
We%26#39;ll have 5 days to do Vegas and the GC. We%26#39;re not really sure how to go about it though. Is it easy to get to the GC from Vegas? How long should we set aside for the GC? Will we need an overnight, then a day there, then an overnight, then travel back to Vegas? We were thinking arrive Vegas Sunday afternoon. Spend Monday in Vegas, travel to a hotel near GC on the Tuesday, spend Wednesday at the GC, come back to Vegas on the Thrusday, then fly out from Vegas on the Friday. Does this sound like a good plan?
As for hotels in Vegas, I think it%26#39;d be nice to be in the thick of it, so the hotels you recommend sound good. And $80 per night would probably be nearing the most we%26#39;d want to spend. No more than $100 a night. And what good buffest do you recommend? I hear there%26#39;s loads. Anything particular we should do whilst there? Neither of us are big gamblers so after a few go%26#39;s on the slots, we may need something else to fill our time. Any good shows?
Flojo, please understand that Vegas hotel prices change daily based on supply and demand. Generally, Sunday - Thursdays are cheap and weekends are expensive. If there is s huge convention in town, weekday rates will skyrocket. It%26#39;s common to see a the same room cost $80 on Thursday night, then jump to $250 per night for the weekend. Room prices outside of Vegas don%26#39;t vary so dramatically.
Sounds like you have a wonderful vacation planned! I%26#39;m sorry that I can%26#39;t help with your GC questions.
I would definitely stay on the strip - check out Flamingo, Bills, Monte Carlo, Bally%26#39;s...You have lots of time to do some good reading here -if you search or even go back several (hundred) pages and read through you%26#39;ll learn more than you want to know.
There is tons to do in Vegas - having never been there before, just sightseeing will take up a lot of time. Walking the strip, popping in and out of all of the different hotels/casinos is a great experience.
Shows- what are you into? The Cirque shows? comedy?
There is also some great info on here regarding Vegas on a budget, where to eat etc. I%26#39;ll try to find (is it Sweetsherry%26#39;s?) the list for first timer%26#39;s must see/do.
First, hotels to stay away from:
Circus Circus, Imperial Palace, Sahara, Stratosphere, Riviera, Excalibur, Luxor, or Tropicana
SO.....from whats left, budget in mind, I%26#39;d recommend Flamingo, Orleans *off strip but they have shuttle service to the strip*, Monte Carlo, or Ballys.
Hi
I also agree with Orleans, have stayed there twice and had a good time. If you have a car that%26#39;s the easiest option but they do have a strip shuttle. Also take a look at Gold Coast, not stayed there but have been for food etc. This is owned by the same company but the rooms are cheaper. I think the rooms are slightly smaller but not small by any means, just the bathrooms. This hotel also has a shuttle, in fact to the strip or to the Orleans. The Gold Coast is also very close to the Rio and the Palms.
The GC is an overnight trip via the Hoover Dam, I suggest you look at staying in Williams or Flagstaff. It%26#39;s about a 5 hour drive, some of it on the old Route 66.
