I am thinking of planning a romantic getaway for me and my hubby in may of 2008. What else is there to do there, I dont wanna spend my days and nights throwing my money away. I wanna come here for the excitment and doing going somewheres different. Cna anyone out there help me please!

What is there to do in vegas besides the gambling????

plenty - just about everything you would do in any big city with great peoperties. play sports, dining, spas, shows, sightsee, relax at the pool, movies, people watch, shop. The one shortfall is history - as in long-term. the neon graveyard is cool, but it%26#39;s not like the area is sull of hisotry - which is fine. it is a city in which tens of thousands of people live daily.

this Q is asked almost daily - just read a few pages of titles, I bet you find some threads

Bridge covered it well.

Maybe go to Vegas.com to get lists of shows, attractions and other things to do.

Get offstrip to Grand Canyon, Valley of Fire and many other places.

Others have suggested Parachuting, or the freefall indoor experience.

For romance? Plenty of dining choices here. Paris? Bellagio fountains...and many more...

I didn%26#39;t do any significant gambling in Vegas until my third trip.

Ditto to what the others have said.

There is plenty of sightseeing to be had, free shows, as well as afternoon and evening shows that are spectacular. Tons of shopping all along the strip and in many of the casinos.

Off the strip you%26#39;ll find plenty of sightseeing as well, with day trips to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam/Lake Mead, Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon, London Bridge, Lake Havasau and other areas.

Great dining choices, from budget minded buffets to great gourmet cuisine. Lots of nightlife too, if dancing the night away is your thing.

are some sites to start with.

We didn%26#39;t gamble at all during one entire day. We went to the pool for hours, then got ready for dinner, and spent the evening going walking through casinos watching the free entertainment until we found the Dueling Pianos show and watched that for quite a while. There are free shows now in many of the casinos, and the shopping malls aren%26#39;t your typical neighborhood variety. You can spend days wandering through those.

We actually had to decide that we were going to stop and gamble instead of just sight seeing.

What else is there to do-

dine in some great restaurants, go to clubs, have some spa treatments, visit some of the lounges where- for the price of a drink- you can hear some great music, go to shows, see all the attractions in the casinos, people watch, drink, dance, rent a car and see some great off strip scenic attractions, skidive, ski(in winter) and just have an all around great time.

Scenic route: Mt. Charleston,

Red Rock Canyon:www.desertusa.com/redrock

Valley of Fire: parks.nv.gov/vf.htm

Hoover Dam/Lake Mead

Some great restaurants:

Andres and Alize

And as everyone else has suggested:

vegas.com for attractions, shows, etc.

Go see an erotic show like Cirque%26#39;s Zumanity at the NYNY or Bite at the Stratosphere. Both are very, very gooood! Your romance factor will be through the roof!

I dont gamble either i love the shows, pigging out at the buffets, and just enjoy the sites and the Strip.

It%26#39;s easy to go to Vegas and not gamble. Visit some of the sites others have mentioned. The restaurants, shows, Bellagio fountains and much more will more than take up your time.

When I do gamble it%26#39;s for entertainment and I don%26#39;t consider it throwing money away.

Agree with the above.... In May I would lie by the pool, drinks, dinner, more drinks, a show. When you%26#39;re tired of that the shopping is spectactular. Also, people watching, lots of history around (I know, sounds wierd, but it%26#39;s true!), and just plain entertainment in many forms. Vegas doesn%26#39;t have to be about gambling and drinking. It%26#39;s a cool place, and you can make it into whatever vacation you want!
