Review of 9/14 - 9/17 (first timer!)

What a great weekend! I think we did the most for the little time we had. We stayed at Monte Carlo, Riviera, and NY, NY each night. NY, NY had the most comfortable bed and was the cleanest. Monte Carlo gave us a cigarette-smelling ';non-smoking'; room, Riviera was cheap, full of history, but outdated.

I loved going downtown and seeing some of the famous casino signs I%26#39;ve seen in movies for years. Binion (casino and hotel) really impressed me. It was very clean for being so old. We won money there, which makes me think that the odds are better. It only makes sense because the hotel has been around for so long, they can afford to have more winners. I don%26#39;t know anything about the rooms, but I think I%26#39;d like to try to stay there if I get a chance to return. I%26#39;ve researched online and rooms are about $49/night. It%26#39;s not the strip and not very fancy, but if the rooms are anywhere as clean as the casino, I think I%26#39;d love to take the chance and stay. The crowd was a little older as well, which suited my needs. The music played was James Taylor, CSN, etc., another plus in my book!

Zumanity was incredible. I wanted to see a show that was totally Vegas, not one that would come to Atlanta. Since Love was sold out, we went to Zumanity. It was sensual and risque, something I wish I could%26#39;ve had my hubby with me to see. Since we are from the East Coast, we wanted to stay as close to EST as possible. Staying at NY, NY after the 10:30pm show was a definite benefit.

The Bellagio Fountains and inside gardens were exactly what everyone said - incredible. I couldn%26#39;t believe how wonderful it was to see it all.

Even with the junk OJ brought to LV, we still had a great time. Sunday morning an intersection was quickly blocked by 3 speeding and skidding police cars; we later learned OJ was arrested at that time.

We fly stand-by and had an incredibly hard time getting back to Atlanta. It was recommended by the airline that we take a connecting flight to Rochester, NY then on to Atlanta, so we did. I%26#39;m totally exhausted after hitting 3 corners of the Great U.S. yesterday. Whew!

We found www.smartervegas.com to be the best way to find bargains for hotel packages in Vegas; most hotels listed were on the strip. The 1/2 price show kiosks around were good to get last minute tickets and save about $15/ticket.

Priceline has car rental for $11/day. I%26#39;m so glad we had a car to switch hotels so easily and venture downtown. There%26#39;s free parking everywhere, we never had a problem finding a place or feeling unsafe parking in a garage.

Thanks for everyone%26#39;s advice. Now I%26#39;ve got to figure out when I can go back and visit!!

Wow! Sounds like you DID have a jam-packed fun-filled weekend! OJ just HAS to keep getting attention, doesn%26#39;t he!?!?! You can always say ';you were there when';........... LOL.......

Now let me get this straight.....you went from Nevada to NEW YORK? Then to Georgia?????? I bet you ARE exhausted!!!

Thanks for the TR........enjoyed reading it!

Sounds like a well planned trip for a first timer...rental car, shows, and 3 hotels in 3 nights...good for you!!! Now you have an idea of what you want to see when you go back....welcome to the club of Vegas addicts! =)

Happy to hear you had a good time!

We are thinking of renting a car for the first time and one of my fears was not being able to park or how much it would cost, thanks for the info on that.

It%26#39;s wonderful that you has such a good time. You are teh 2nd or 3rd person to recently mention priceline for car rentals. I%26#39;ll have to check them out. I%26#39;ve also never checked out smartvegas, so now I have a new web site to visit .....thanks!

It%26#39;s so much fun anticipating and planning your next trip...mine is in 22 days!!!

And, another one gets reeled in by the great city of lights. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip. Who went with you, since you say your hubby wasn%26#39;t there?

I kick about having to spend 4 hrs. on the plane and was totally bummed out when our N.O. ariport was not fully operational after Hurricane Katrina, causing me to take a connecting flight. I would really have trouble going from LV to Rochester to Atlanta. Wow! Good thing I don%26#39;t live in Europe or Australia.

Thanks for the TR. You ';did good'; for a newbie, both in your trip planning and your report.

Camille
