Semi-Belated TR; Part Deux 9/3 & 9/4 @ Paris

Got extended checkout for 1pm with no problem at Hilton on Monday, Labor Day 9/3...cabbed over to Paris for two nites on Harrahs...cabby cranky when he realized we weren%26#39;t going to airport...I told him to keep his attitude to himself...trip was quick, via back way...he turned right on Flamingo, left on LV blvd for a sec, and left directly into Paris driveway...12 +3 tip...he even smiled...maybe he learned something?....nah.

Paris checkin at 1:30 pm no problem...comp room was newly renovated on 28th floor w/very partial view of fountains, Bally%26#39;s and Bill%26#39;s...was offered full suite...he said 1500 sq ft...for 85/nite...I asked for complimentary upgrade to something with a ';P'; on Bellagio side...but I showed no 20%26#39;s...so I still don%26#39;t know if bribe/tip would have worked.

Renovated room was super...great plush king bed...nice French hooker%26#39;s divan in front of window...same bathroom as old room we had last Sept...but nice, w/sep glassed in shower...plenty of plush towels...just fine...big screen plasma, with crappy reception...who cares?...

Gambling:

Once again...no luck...wife and I playing BJ, single deck, 6/5...I%26#39;m at third base, she to my right...$10 table...changed to 15 at 6pm...she was up 75; I%26#39;m down 150; then she%26#39;s even; I%26#39;m only down 80...3 hours have passed...aaarggh...let%26#39;s go eat.

Dining:

Walked into Mon Ami Gabi...no reservations at 7:15 on Mon nite...no wait for patio...of course not, it%26#39;s 110 degrees out there, and windy!...fountains are off...please seat us by window?inside?...no problem!...I%26#39;ve never seen Vegas, or the Paris as dead as it was on Labor Day evening...great time to be there...I made a mental note for next year.

We loved MAG last year, and we loved it again!

Wife had 6 Belon oysters...briny, fresh and tasted like Normandy, she proclaimed...I was happy, because she was happy.

I had gazpacho...this tastes like Spain, I proclaimed...she appeared to be glad for me.

Wife then had Rouquefort Steak frites...oo la la...said she.

My country GrandMere roast chicken had insanely crisp skin, so please don%26#39;t tell my cardiologist!...also don%26#39;t tell him the strangely curleycue frites are fried in duck fat, so they are extra tasty.

Nice bottle of Mumm...love that Champagne for 62/bottle

Shared a creme brulee with double espressos...

Over two and a quarter unhurried hours of eating and drinking for $165 +35=$200...hey, it%26#39;s Vegas, Baby!.....more to follow

Semi-Belated TR; Part Deux 9/3 %26amp; 9/4 @ Paris

mmmm you made me hungry...... so what does Spain taste like?

Semi-Belated TR; Part Deux 9/3 %26amp; 9/4 @ Paris

Okay....I read it twice.....did you get the 1500sf room or a view room?

I%26#39;ve stayed in the smallest Paris room. Please remind me what a ';P'; room is?

Sorry no luck with gambling, but at least your 2.25 hour dinner was great!!!

';I told him to keep his attitude to himself..';

Great stuff!

Hey Pook...Spain tastes bright and earthy...we love the food from Seville/ Cadiz /Costa del Sol area ( south western Andulucia)...its where tapas come from...Manchego cheese with serrano ham, oloves, almonds AND Gazpacho...I don%26#39;t know how they do it, but everybody we saw in Spain had on super tight, white pants, with evidently no underwear...with only 1% body fat!....and, those were just the guys!!

Lowrance...sorry it wasn%26#39;t clear...I took the original room with limited view ( it was renovated, though, and very nice)...didn%26#39;t see need to pay an extra $85/nite for a suite ( although, I bet it%26#39;s amazing). A ';p'; room is a corner room, with windows on both sides, on the Bellagio side...a definite upgrade if you can get one...I was too shy to try for it with 20$ tip.

Hey Philly...I grew up in Brooklyn, so giving it back to a cabbie is no problem...fuhgedddaboutit.

So, to continue with TR: Still like Paris Hotel pretty well, even though we continued to lose with regularity at all games we played ( wife played penny and 2c Wheel games, got her occasional bonus spins, kept busy for a couple of hours...but, ultimately, $ 100 bucks or so vanishes...BJ continued to be bad for me...$10 and $15 tables aplenty on Mon and Tues 9/3 and 4...but I could never get my progression of wins going...play 10 and win, bet 20, win, bet 30, win bet 50...only got to 50 maybe 3 times....and lost every time...whew!..very tough

No better luck to report over at Bill%26#39;s...where we went to see Big Elvis ( I wrote a separate thread on BE being spectacular, and he was)...

Back at Paris, we ate breakfast ( or brunch, since it was 11am) at Cafe de St. Louis, always getting a table in the main ';outside section';...it feels like you%26#39;re outside, you know?...very pleasant, with the always suset, or dawnish looking sky...very Disneyesque...but it works on me, Baby.

Food was pretty good at the Cafe (we don%26#39;t like the glutton aspect of buffets, we always eat too much)...I had an egg beaters omelet w/ mushrooms and salsa...wife had vanilla bean french toast, and she said ';ooo la la';, once again....Wed morn, at check out, we were told we had a grand total of $212 deducted from our bill (from gambling comps)...much tighter and way less generous than ever...thanks Harrahs!...we%26#39;ll be back, though, if you keep sending us that fold out monthy listing of the free and discounted rooms available at all your Vegas hotels...too hard to resist...it%26#39;s Vegas, Baby!...flew on to LALALAND to visit for a while and then flew JetBlue back to Boston out of Long Beach, CA...great, small airport south of LAX by about 15 minutes...not inconvenient at all, as I thought it might be...on time, comfortable seats and legroom...and, only 129 p/p coast to coast!...thanks for listening everyone...if you have any questions, I%26#39;ll do my best to respond later today or Thursday. Adieu/ Adios/ Bis Spater/ Ta Ta/ auf wiedersehen/ I%26#39;m outtahere.

So cultural...ooh la la!! I love it!! =)

LOL about ';nice French hooker%26#39;s divan in front of window...';.....heh!

Yummm....love your food descriptions at MAG....it%26#39;s been on my list to try for awhile now...I really need to just try it one of these days!

Good to know Labor Day is not crowded...

Nice report... fun to read. Sorry about the losses.. but there is always next time.

Good job..I am hungry and I want french toast...oh well...off to the fair...LA county fair..and all the bad stuff that comes with it...they got the Vegas on Crack...with fried items....but no Slot machines..sniff! Report to follow tomorrow...I promise....Slotto out!
