best transportation option??

When we arrive in Las Vegas we would like to be able to stop at the Welcome to vegas sign, stop at a grocery/liquor store and do a cruise up the strip. Would we be able to do all of this in an hour with a limo or should we rent a car? Is it fairly easy to drive in vegas? Thanks in advance for any info you can offer.

If you just need it for a short time, an hour in a limo should be plenty to do what you need I think.

You want to stop at the vegas sign, go to a grocery store then cruise the strip in one hour?

Maybe yes maybe no, it depends.

When are you arriving in LV?

Day or night?

Weekend or weekday?

Where are you staying?

We are arriving Saturday night at about 8:00pm on October 27. Now that I think about it I%26#39;m sure it won%26#39;t be enough time. Is it very difficult to get around in a rental?

best, as we know, is subjective. You have many options and will figure out what works best for your situation.

I believe in limos when possible (or a driver/sedan - the actual vehicle does not need to be a limo, save a few bucks). Renting a car in LV is not best for us - 20 yr ago it was great. the traffic is horrible, you want to be able to see the sights, enjoy the ride, and have fun. Needing a DD, having someone navigate if you don%26#39;t know the entrances/exits to the casinos can be a hassle.

This is all personal - some won%26#39;t visit without a car.

I think in the last few months I%26#39;m seeing many driver/limo converts here. The convenience factor, time-savings and ease of getting to your destination can%26#39;t be beat.

The cost for a driver the few times you need it is not much more than renting a car. For us money is not the deciding factor - overall experience is.

If you do decide to rent a car check with your personal insurance carrier and the credit card company of the card you will use - see exactly what coverage(s) you have and ask your insurance agents advice on the need for any insurance in LV. Many times you will have coverage - some do not and some have partial. The kicker is the ';loss of use'; coverage - ask both your agent and cc company specifically about this.

I do not think it is difficult to get around Vegas in a rental car. I have never gone to Vegas without renting one(60+ trips). I like the convenience of coming and going when I want without having to worry about long hikes to the monorail stations, waiting for a crowded and slow bus or paying cab fare. The stip traffic can be bad- especially on the week-ends- but you can almost always avoid driving on the strip (unless you want to) by using back and side roads. Use the map found in What%26#39;s On. Getting in and out of most of the garages has never been a problem for me. You can park for free. If you valet park you should tip when you get your car back. A car will give you the option of getting off strip to see other casinos, attractions and restaurants.

I totally agree with VP... we always get a car. Yes, there%26#39;s a lot of traffic on the strip, but you%26#39;ll still get wherever you%26#39;re going faster than if you took the Deuce! A car is cheap, usually under 20.00 a day for a mid-size car, and you%26#39;ll have a way to see the sights, go downtown or visit some of the off-strip casinos.

If you don%26#39;t need a car for anything but what you want to do in your original post, I%26#39;d definitely hire a limo for an hour. I think it can be done in an hour. We hired a limo for my niece%26#39;s 21st - had fun letting someone else drive, pointing out the sights etc.

We would rent a car if we had plans to really go out an explore and not want to pay for taxis etc. After many trips to Vegas we stay pretty close to our hotel and walk. I guess it depends on what you%26#39;re planning on doing, where you want to go etc.

I think your plan is an excellent one. Sounds like a great way to start your trip. I would go with what you have stated. Getting all that done in an hour will be close, but doable. Do the limo and sit back and enjoy.

Thanks for all the advise. I think it sounds like a limo would be the best bet. I%26#39;m hoping I can wheel a deal when we get there and this way I can enjoy some beverages on the plane too. haha thanks again.

Plan on two hours for your trip, not one. The Strip at 8:00 p.m. to midnight on a Saturday is almost complete grid-lock.

You can drive it in an hour, no problem, but when you add in the Vegas sign and the grocery store, it is too much for an hour on a Saturday night.
