TR - Sept 13 -16 Disappointments and Surprises.

TR – Sept 13 – 16

Thursday

Allegiant Air- got up Thursday morning, grabbed our coffees jumped in the car and headed across the border to Bellingham, WA.. We arrived at Bellingham airport at 6:30 am for our 8:30 am departure. Just one minor thing the airport was in a blanket of fog. They put us all through security and had us waiting in the holding room and wait and wait and wait. They finally announced they couldn’t take off until the fog lifted which could mean 5 minutes or ????? They assured us they wouldn’t cancel the flight but we would just have to wait it out. Didn’t want passengers to go back out past security in case there was a “window” of opening and we would board asap and take off…..leaving them behind…. Finally around noon we were given a go, you have never seen a plane board so fast !! LOL (P.S. – everyone was still in pre-vegas spirits ,so people were still in a pretty good mood – not angry or pissed off at the world that their flight had been delayed)

Flight was uneventful.

Landed in Las Vegas, grabbed our luggage and off to the rental car pickup area with Hertz (through Priceline for $11 a day). Quick and fast, loved it. We ended up with a Ford focus, not too gutsy but perfect for the two of us. Meanwhile I was on the phone trying to switch or cancel our dinner reservations with Casa Di Amore, which were originally for 5. They were great and switched them to 7:15, giving us enough breathing room to run to Vons, pick up some nibblies, and refreshments for the room.

Bellagio – this was our anniversary and when I booked it a couple of months ago at the incredible rate of $149 with a view of the lake, I was like a kid on Christmas morning checking in. No $20 dollar trick needed here, I had called and emailed to confirm it all even explaining it was our anniversary, could bring proof if necessary J And I don’t know if it was because it was now 4:40 pm, my nerves were in overload, she regrettably gave me the news that all the lakeview rooms were taken but she had an incredible room on the 25th overlooking the pools. I felt my eyes well up (I am a weeper, I can cry in commercials !!) I told her about our horrible flight delay, promises from Bellegio when I called, it was getting closer to 5, still had to shower and change and get ready for dinner, TIME was running out, so I bit my lower lip after she sincerely apologized even making another phone call to ? to see if there was another room to use. She said on the up side they had an anniversary gift for us – an envelope to pick up at their gift shop. It was Bellagio perfume for women all beautifully wrapped up. Ok…. Im fine…

Our room was beautiful, huge and a tub to die for, for a beautiful bubble bath that I had at the end of the evening, wonderful. Only offside note: there was an empty ketchup packet on the floor and the icebucket hadn’t been emptied, half full of water and no plastic bag. I kinda chuckled to myself.

After throwing our bags in the room, off we went running to see if we could catch Big Elvis – NOPE – he was sick yesterday and today and hopefully would be there on Friday.

Off running again to O’Shea’s to get tickets for the now 9:30 show for Vinnie Favorito (2 for 1 in ACG – though I saw 2 for 1 for him all over the place). Great, booked now must race back to the Bellagio to shower and get ready for the limo that was coming in 20 minutes….never enough time is there to get ready, oh well.

Casa Di’Amore Restaurant: Had the coupon from Restaurant.com, picked us up on time, wonderful, funny driver and dropped us off at the restaurants. It seemed we were welcomed by everyone, they knew we were on a tight schedule and they would do their best to make sure we were out and to our show on time…..wonderful family atmosphere, excellent singer (apparently he was one of the opening acts for the Wynn) and a fabulous server named Tony. We both had Veal Parmaggiano and it was huge and excellent ! Cant recommend the restaurant highly enough. They are down on Tropicana.

Vinnie Favorito: All I can say is invest in a pair of depends because you are going to need them, I haven’t laughed out loud for so long and continuous, I thought my DH was going to have a heart attack. He is wickedly funny and mostly everyone in the audience is the show. If you get your feelings easily hurt, offended by swearing , feel everything should be politically correct you wont enjoy the show

Finally some gambling at O’Sheas and back to the Bellagio for more and then both of us totally exhausted, I ran that beautiful bath and soaked any problems away !!

Friday

Got up early and went downstairs to grab some coffee and hook or by crook I was going to check out the Bellagio as we were checking out this morning to go over to the Flamingo. We showed our cards and toured the swimming pools and cabanas, wonderful, wished we had had the time to use the pools as they looked wonderful.

Wandered over to Flamingo – was able to check in if we wanted to 6th floor overlooking the pool and gardens, took it and it was a wonderful room, loved it….our housekeeper was ever so gracious…. Introduced herself when we checked in… next morning personally thanked us for the tip, the following morning knocked to make sure we had a safe trip home and if we stayed at the Flamingo again, please to stay on her floor….omg , we felt like brad pitt and Angelino… lol

Breakfast/Lunch: Peppermill – cant say enough about this place – LOVED IT – we shared breakfast (approx $11.00) pancakes etc. was great, service was excellent, tipped well !

Afternoon: Poolside at the Flamingo – great time, DH kept asking was I not going to read my book? Nope “ too much people watching” LOL loved it, we swam , had a couple of drinks… great time

Dinner Ellis Island: What can I say, I love this place (please don’t flame me) , we played Video poker, won , ate and found out that they raised the price from $4.95 to $6.95 the day before (our luck :() ) who cares, we won at the machines , had a great meal and off to Spamalot… great time… lots of fun

Saturday

Got up , grabbed coffee from downstairs…. ( I know I wanted to try Paris Buffet for breakfast, but it just wasn’t in us to do it….we aren’t brekky people)

Drove out to Valley of Fire – excellent road trip and drove back by Lake Mead,, arrived back in LV around 2 , disrobed and ran down to the pool until 6pm….. had a few no a lot of drinks…..J

Couldn’t decide where to go for dinner, so we decided to go back to Ellis Island…, ordered a cab, the cab driver started driving in the opposite direction… of Ellis Island… and I quietly mentioned we were wanting to go to Ellis Island… he replied “I KNOW”… ok I shut up… hmmmm. Next thing I see we are at the Wynn…. And I looked at my DH and said we are way off course, he just shrugged, so I mentioned again a little louder that we were going to ELLIS ISLAND and the cab driver screams back at me “I KNOW I HAVE BEEN TOLD 4 TIMES WERE YOU WANT TO GO “, so I quietly say “ I thought it was behind Ballys’? and he says nothing….then all of a sudden the brain comes into play and says “oh I thought you wanted to to got greek isle”, so I said “np, I just don’t want to have to pay for this extra $$, and he starts screaming at me “saying when he makes a mistake, he never charges the client!!” Yikes this guy scared me and my DH, we just shut the F…up. He drops us off at Ellis Island after he slams open my door, my DH tries to pay him some $$, but he screams at us “No”…. and gets back in and screams out of the parking lot…. .omg some major anger issues there….. ( I have emailed the company just to let them know of this psycho they have employed)

Anyways after dinner , and winning some $$ at Ellis Island it was off to Mystere…. Great seats ($50), loved it… but O is still my favourite, Mystere is second…. Just us !

Afterwards…. Made our way back to Flamingo , it was now 11:30… I put $20 into a jacks or better machine, stayed until 2 am and cashed out at $175.45…..not big in a lot of gamblers.. but I was happy !! J

Woke up at 6 am…… packed, grabbed coffee, drove to Albertsons, had a great deal on Tiquilla…grabbed 2, dropped off the rental car, got to the airport, went and had breakfast leisurely… (cant remember the name) and took an uneventful flight home…. And arrived at our home around 4 pm……

Waaaa,…. .I want my mommy…..I want to go back……..

Final Thoughts: I loved this trip, even though it seemed rushed…..

Pluses: Vinnie, Peppermill, Spamalot, Casa Di Amore, Flamingo pool

I know I have probably skipped out parts…but I am trying to get back into the work mode and still dream !!

TR - Sept 13 -16 Disappointments and Surprises.

jdmss,

Those cabbies can be quite OFF. Sounds like you had a good time. Most times I don%26#39;t want to leave but I figure well it will just make the next trip better.

I am going to the Flamingo for the 1st time in October and I haven%26#39;t heard very good reviews. I was glad to hear that you liked it. Any suggestions?

Great TR. Thanks for sharing your memories. Keeps me going : - ).

Great trip report. We are flying on Allegiant out of Bellingham in 4 weeks and can hardly wait! I too like the Falmingo but there does`nt seem to be alot of us left!

Sounds like you had a good time =)

They raised the price at Ellis Island- oh no, I didn%26#39;t even get to visit in August =/

Sounds like a great trip once the airport fog lifted. Thanks for sharing. So when are you going back?

Wow sounds like a very eventful trip... fog.. two hotels ...two shows... a few wins... VOF and a psyco cab driver! But sounds like you had a blast!

Wow I am tired from reading this. You got a lot done in a little time.

Great TR! Glad you had fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for sharing your report. Only 24 more days %26#39;til i arrive and get to donate my $ to the casinos. I%26#39;ll be happy to be up anything at the end of my trip

Wow, great TR!! Thanks so much for taking the time to share it.

That cab driver was nuts!! I sure would have been scared. Sometimes they seem to take you some odd ways to get places, but it has always worked out. But going to Wynn to get to Ellis Island?!?! I would have been freaking out too!

Sorry you didn%26#39;t get your lakeview room :-( But cool that you still got a nice room and a gift to boot!! Happy Anniversary!!

Thanks again!!
