hotel prices

just a quick question, why are the hotels in vegas so much cheaper (and better) than the ones in new york? there%26#39;s a vast difference in prices. is it something to do with the casinos?

It%26#39;s a combination of factors. Yes the gambling subsidises room rates a great deal and also the competition between hotels is intense.

It%26#39;s perhaps a little unfair to use New York as a comparison. NYC is the most expensive place in the US period, so its hotel rates are going to be higher than anywhere else, much in the same way that London%26#39;s hotel rates are way higher than most other places in the UK. Also Vegas is a vacation destination and NY is a major world metropolis - totally different market conditions exist in the two places.

To say that Vegas hotels are ';better'; than those in NYC is however, inaccurate. New York has several hotels that (whilst far more expensive than anything in LV), are FAR superior to the best that Vegas has to offer.

People tend to spend more money on gambling and stuff, in a hotel that they are staying, than just visiting.

Overall, Vegas wants us there, and if you can%26#39;t afford their hotels, you won%26#39;t go and you won%26#39;t be able to feed their slot machines

Vegas was built on gambling, not hotel rooms. The money is in the gambling and they%26#39;ll do whatever it takes to get us playing THEIR slots and joining THEIR blackjack and THEIR poker games.

just booked on the spur of the moment to go to NY, cheap flight with B.A. then looked at hotel prices for 8 nights and they%26#39;ll cost more than the flight.

although vegas costs more to fly to , we%26#39;d get a hotel for less so i suppose it%26#39;s swings and roundabouts.

hoping to come to vegas in april next year.

paid 拢283 ($566) for 3 of us in Quality Inn (inc. buffet breakfast).................amazing!
