Leftover casino chips

So I mentioned this in my trip report, but to recap we came home with some chips we forgot to cash in on our last trip. After contacting the casino (Flamingo) they said to either wait until we came back and cash them in (duh) or mail them in taped to some cardboard with our return address and players card number. So I told my husband that I sent the chips in today and he told me that was a bad idea...theyc ould say they never recieved them or they could get lost in themail, etc...

So anybody have experience with this? Am i being an idiot? Should I just sit on $175 worth of chips until our next trip (could be many months, maybe nex year) or send them in? They are sitting in my mailbox now so any responses would be greatly appreciated.

And don%26#39;t make fun of me forgetting to cash in my chips or I may cry...or go the athens forum and never come back!!

I%26#39;m sorry... I missed it. What is your address again?

I haven%26#39;t done this and no I wouldn%26#39;t mail them. Either wait till you go back or, if you know someone who is going anytime soon, sell the chips to them. The chips are good at any LV casino.

I woulnd%26#39;t be concerned at all.

It%26#39;s not like you%26#39;re sending them to some fly-by-night operation. I think you can trust The Flamingo with your $175. I imagine they know you are worth a lot more than that as a happy guest, then simply ripping off $175.

That being said, if you%26#39;re concerned, go get them out of the mailbox, and send them via return receipt, and insure the package for $175. Then you have nothing to worry about!

Doc,

I don%26#39;t think the chips are good in any casino. Some casinos might cash them in for you, but not many. And you probably wouldn%26#39;t be able to wager them in many casinos either.

I could be wrong, but I don%26#39;t think so in this case.

My address is 2413...

Hey wait a minute you could just come and....

Very funny Dr. =)

I really don%26#39;t know any of my friends going anytime soon but I thought about that. It just kills me to have money that I can%26#39;t use for months.

Look at it this way - you%26#39;re now $175 on your way to affording your next Vegas trip.

Thanks mgg, good advice. It looks like it will be $2.45 to insure and I can print the label on my computer so I don%26#39;t even have to go to the post office. Ahhh, the beauty of the internet!!

I went and got the chips out of my mailbox so back off Dr. V!!! jk=)

Lol Trifecta! You%26#39;re right though! 175 buck closer to your next trip!

I wish, Pook =( I have already been informed by DH (the one who brought the chips home inthe first place!!!) that our next trip is many moons away! While he loves going, he doesn%26#39;t have the addiction, I mean passion, I have for Vegas!

The only solution is to go back without your husband!

On second thought, I did once pay the full value of a local indian tito ticket. The person who had it posted it on Craigslist because they forgot to cash it and was not planning on return to the casino in the near future.. I image there are a few people in OC going to Las Vegas that read Craigslist that might want to do a good deed.
